Ykâeru

Ykâeru is a post-apocalyptic fantasy world inspired by Norse mythology and landscapes. Ykâeru is the name of an island hidden in mist in a vast dark sea. The story is about the last remnants of the Ykâ, those that ruled the island one thousand years ago. Magic destroyed the world by the hand of mortal gods and their slaves are the only ones left alive. They have become a nomadic people of tribes, living in makeshift shelters in the old ruins of their people as they search for sanctuary. Even after the apocalypse, the world is being torn apart, as it is melding with another plane of existence, the source of all magic. Rifts to the other world are ripping through reality, spreading madness in the minds of man and deforming it’s surroundings.
  A cult to the rifts has been created, worshipping strange entities of pale light that seek to consume the world. The husks of the old gods are awakening and are looking for ways to regain their lost powers. The Remnants are at the brink of losing hope as the world is slowly being consumed by the malformations of the rifts.
