Ode to frienship

This is the title of a famous painting located at the Museum of Faryn Bei Taryn at Ymhilean .   Faryn bei Taryn (234 BP- 398 AP) was one of the greatest elven poets of all time and its also famous for been one of the few elf poets who mastered the art of classical Seris poetry. He became a very good friend of the human Seris poet Uttare Anandaru (98- 185 AP) whom he visited many times in his numerous trips to the Seris Empire .

A tribute to friendship

This painting was created by Uttare as a gift, in one of Faryn's visits to his house near Istardesham in the centre of Seria. It represents a picnic between both poets that ended in a music and poetry contest near the Anara mountains, close to the river Dabad. In this painting you can see some riverside villages and docks and a fortress at the top of one of the mountains.
Ode to Friendship by Callyxtus
The painting was done on a silk scroll as was common in many seris paintings of the period.   At the top of the painting there are two poems. The one on the left is written in Classical Elvish using the calligraphic script while the right one is written in Seris in a cursive script.   The elvish poem reads like this:
Kar nim ap her kal na Unhel nanca,
Nanada ne caloid damo kal eru allum meta,
Man trynrho ai ilta, homyw gwey lala!
Mane trew giw glass oisin oigiven gwey oilynd!
Ala orm ha sin Helm á term!
That could be translated as:
A white fortress on a hill the light of the sun reflects,
the valley is highlighted by a light that never ends,
What a nice day to dance, sing and laugh!
How much I enjoy these verses and songs!,
No matter the distance, this friendship indeed lasts!.
While the Seris poem reads like this:

Stām arke ka pärkatäre wäsri ñästse märk āktekeṃ, Spärk Kalentse karsa nuwe tasham, Ñäs shenginmeṃ tumeṃ setarmeṃ yokāu terkauka Intsau Huwam!, Wëile Waṣam geshin saimonti Nazen aida se Kaumi tumeṃ kaisheṃ saiwem.

That translated into english says:
Pine trees and grassy hills astonish my view
The flight of the heron seems something new,
I drink and dance at the sound of your lute, my friend!,
The Heavens rejoice, for a friendship is renewed!,
as during these days you company was the only thing I knew.
This first poem written by Faryn would be incorporated latter to his famous book: 12 Seris poems. After this visit to Seria the elf poet brought this gifted painting back to his homeland and it hung in his living room until he died. For Faryn, this was the most precious and beautiful painting of all that he had in his house. And after his dead when, a century later, his house was turned into a museum, the Ode to friendship became one of the most famous paintings in the collection, having a privileged spot at the museum. To this day, the painting remains one of the most famous seris paintings outside of the Seris Empire and one of the most beautiful examples of landscape painting from the early Sittakid Dynasty.   As for the calligraphy of the poem, Sun elf calligraphers still regard Faryn's calligraphy in this poem as one of the most beautiful examples of this peculiar Sun elf art.
