XOA 3: The Questing Portal aka Holes
There comes a time when holes appear in your back yard, and you're not just sure why. The Scruffians are beginning to understand that there is far more at stake than finding Earth, and realize that there are a few other quests that are going to take place before they get there.
Their first quest takes them to the Annular Necrocracy to find a Book which can help with a possible developing situation on Phenomena. But all good trips come with detours, and instead of merely finding the information that they're looking for, they fall into a huge conspiracy/adventure unfolding that threatens to consume Freeport, and perhaps beyond...
Plot points/Scenes
Scenario 1 - Not So Calm Waters
Returning to Waypoint to restock and make sure things are OK has the team run afoul of the Waypoint Mining Consortium, so they have to take care of a few things Before You Go.... The team makes their Return to Serenity. to find out info on the AN. Of course, they have to put down a coup... after they find out that Claudia is actually the Pirate Queen of Serenity's Reach!Scenario 2: Freeport? That's really a Place?
The Scruffians find out information about Freeport and head there. Of course, they can't just arrive, they have to start out by Sailing On Troubled Seas. Once they dock, it's no easy task just getting a good meal, The Streets of Freeport! just keep calling them in deeper. When they finally arrive at the Diving Fin, Hunt impresses the locals with his singing talent and information is found which causes them to dig in for the coming Thieves' Guilds storm.Scenario 3: Freeport Style
Just as the team decides it's best to start Digging In, Gringa the Bartender leaves for vacation right before the going gets good and the team gets hired to help out - right in time. They stop a vicious conspiracy by Mr. Wednesday to put the Diving Fin out of business as he doesn't like their "neutrality" in his territory. After meeting with the halfing crime-lord Finn at the Fin, they find that Aporcus Beedle had made him the fall guy for children that are disappearing; he's managed to start a Thieve's War between Mr. Wednesday and Finn. Finn tasks the group to begin a Hunt for Aporcus Beedle.Scenario 4: Fury in Freeport
The plot thickens as the team heads after A Beedle, A Dagger, and a Hole; the path leads them to the Municipal Auction House where they shut down a demonic portal and gather a little more information. While the party rests, Paradigm assists Hunt in making good on his promise to assist Alyssa with some "inside problems," and find out that Otazan Farastay is somehow involved in a plot against Alyssa's company as well. Eventually, they find that she is of the Adventuring Kind as she leads them to the Aethersea Adventurer's Association where they find she is Duchess Alyssa Renaldi of the Annular Necrocracy and helps them gain a petition/license of temporary sanctum through the Triple A. Their sleuthing eventually tracks Otakan - who is hunting the dagger - to Scurvytown, where Aporcus is hiding. A brief but climatic battle which destroys a few homes there results in his capture and release to the Sea Lord's Guard and them gaining and turning the dagger over to the Triple A, recounted in The Trader and the Turkey of Terror, named so because of Paradigms first sighting of demonic turkey that only he can see or hear.Themes
Structure
Exposition
The characters discover and journey to Freeport where they find out that the legend of Freeport is true and far more important than could be imagined. As a pirate's haven and one of the most important non-Hegemony ports in the Aether Sea, Freeport is home to every form of intrigue under the sun and harbors an incredible secret ability which keeps it free of the Hegemony... for now.
Because of that, Freeport has drawn some important visitors and expatriates - a few who have vital information concerning what is happening with the Annular Necrocracy.
Conflict
Things begin to happen suspiciously when a Mazin Trader and a certain team of adventurers come to town and start looking for a man and a dagger. Soon, bodies start turning up as well and the Powers of Freeport are convinced that something very dangerous is going on - and the things that are making it happen need to be detained.
