XOA 1: We've Not Been Properly Introduced
In this arc, the Team seeks to gain a legitimate footing for their cover and enter Hegemony Space without raising too much of a fuss. Things go horribly awry when they first become the patsy of and then attempt to confront the Pirate Queen of Serenity's Reach.
Plot points/Scenes
Session 1: The Elven Moon - There's a sucker born every minute. The characters unknowingly transport a bomb into a highly militarized zone.
Session 2: Contact - Recently freed, the Team is preparing to get underway when they learn that the bomb they had bought into the area has gone missing. They are approached by an Elven Ambassador to help them rescue the person responsible for its disappearance.
Session 3: Ambushes and Pirates and Dragon (oh, my!) - Stupid pirates try to ambush player characters, which of course never ends well for the stupid pirates, especially when one PC turns into a dragon. Sad story... for pirates. News at 11. (Significant Milestone)
Session 4: A Certain Pirate Queen - The characters, having crippled the pirates, arrive on Serenity and set up a meeting with the Pirate Queen who was the person originally responsible for setting them up with their explosive shipment. The meeting doesn't go so well as Debreu refuses to accept the Queen's offers for repayment of a botched delivery leaving 5 dead - including one of the The Lady's Scruffians
Session 5: This Is MY House! - A second meeting is set up with the Pirate Queen under less favorable circumstances. She demands 1 million credits, double what she originally requested with a time limit of 15 days. Or, they could pay it all off by taking a little job for her...
Session 6: This Small Favor - The crew of the Lady of the Blue take up the Pirate Queen's job in order to avoid a situation that would effectively lead into slavery or worse. Their task? Break Morag's Second Khlenak of the famed Klehnaki Pirates out from the penal system of Frye.
Components
Goals
Gain social acceptance and legitimization to heavily cover their presence as true outsiders.
Hooks
The Pirate Queen Set Us Up!
Stakes
ID or Bust! Success will either give them well developed backgrounds or even possible actual legitimacy. Failure will force them to operate as either un-registered persons or (much worse) sought after criminals in Hegemony space.
Moral Quandaries
But, We Aren't Criminals! Though they are currently outside of Hegemony Space, one can still feel the shadow of bureaucracy looming over them. The fastest track to the inside seems to be to work the Outside, the criminal elements.
Cruel Tricks
You Aren't From Around Here, Are You? When it comes down to it, they simply aren't from around here, no matter how much they bluff as if they crawled from under some rock. Their ignorance will be their undoing in several situations.
