Department of Volatile Magic

The Department of Volatile Magic (DVM) is a branch of the Royal Trade Commission (RTC), itself a subset of the Bureau of Goods and Services. The RTC is closely afliated with—but not, its members are clear to point out, under the auspices of—the Spellcasters’ Union. The DVM isn’t even the department that deals with volatile magic; that would be the prestigious Magical Abuse Assessment Bureau, but the Bureau is only open to SCU-certifed magic-users. The DVM basically just run the ship-scanners.
