Conventions and Notes / Fate Duo

This gives us enough to start with, and it'll be tweaked as we go along. Here's a convention or two to help move things along.
  • In case of a lack of agreement, whoever is willing to pay the most Fate Points wins. One only needs to do this once or twice to realize that it's an unnecessary waste of Fate Points to simply "have your way." Or you can simply allow the Oracle to resolve it!
  • Share the Hat. Take turns "leading" scenes, develop a healthy "back and forth" rhythm. Eventually, you may discover that one person is better at facilitating certain types of scenes, and the other can do other types.
  • Fate Duo is about shared discovery as the machine for providing good roleplay opportunities. Don't be upset when the other person takes an idea and runs with it an a direction you didn't anticipate - especially if it's because of an Oracle result.
  • The results of the tables are guides, not hard and fast rules. They are there to inject the element of randomness, but sometimes the result doesn't fit with the flow of the action and story progression. Change the result to suit the flow! The key to Fate Duo's success is fun and agreement.
