Aetheria Online

You and your (hopefully) closely knit team are at The Fringes of the Royal Hegemony (Empire), that large imperial presence which has an annoying way of controlling or taking what they want. You've got skills, resources, connections, a ship, and lots of aether around you. Someone always needs people with skills and a ship.   Good luck on your adventures.   Welcome to Aetheria Online. The first session or two, along with some online work, is designed to get us up and functioning as a team. There are a number of things to look at, so take a look around and let's see where this gets us!

Requested Ideas and Got...

When talking with my prospective campaigners, a few desires were bought to the table.
  • Spaceships and magic. Why not? I've been running just the campaign world - in fact, most of the material that we'll be starting with comes from that previous run and saves a lot of headaches. So far, it's been interesting and why re-invent the wheel? So, we now have Spaceships and magic! See the disclaimer in the homepage for disclaimers.
  • Teamwork. Something near and dear to my heart, we wanted the people in the group to intentionally be working together, if anything, just to avoid the obligatory campaign starting bar scene. Got it.
  • Use the game to help us do or learn something cool IRL. Fate is that flexible machine that allows you to set the parameters of a lot of dials once you've learned how to use them. When we build our characters, we typically do something that we think is cool in or to us. We can also put in things that we want to be, do, or learn. So why not make it a functional tool? Because of that, we've got multiple types of character aspects, one of them called a Transformative Aspect which focuses precisely on that - something we want to transfer over to Real Life.
  • Space Dolphins. Yeah, it's a thing, or will be a thing in the near future of the campaign. Trust me, it's all that. Or will be.
This campaign will focus heavily around team interaction. The players are definitively involved with at least one other person on the team, and all are connected together in a positive way, or at least in a way that causes them to desire to be together. If that changes during roleplay, well... at least we tried, lol.

Campaign Storylines

The basic dramatic premises of the campaign will most likely be the Impossible Mission trope utilizing some sort of Caper Rationalization (typical roleplaying stuff - Sherlock Holmes and Watson, Leverage, A-Team, the list goes on), where the team will either be committing what would be (or actually are) criminal acts, depending on the background they set up. This easily opens up and mixes in some variant of Espionage themes, which are incredibly numerous, especially Spy Fiction ideas (James Bond, NCIS, Magnum P.I., etc...).   I'm taking a moment here to stress that we can be very flexible in all of this and just because we start out one direction doesn't mean we won't go another. Just trying to give you some overviews of things you can expect at the start to help you figure out what kind of character you want to build.

Information Base

This Wiki will serve as the Information Base for the campaign because it's got some really cool design tools built in that you don't see directly, but they make a GMs work as far as development and organization much easier.   I highly recommend that you look around and get familiar with the place. There's already roughly one hundred articles, and I'll try to get you a summary page which will allow you to have an ideas as to where to start. For now, "Go to the XOver Homepage" using the tab near the top and to your left, and at the bottom and left of the page (or just further down on the Homepage on a smartphone), you'll find a Table of Contents. All of this is a work in progress, and I'm focusing on the elements which are most important to ongoing adventures, including chronicling the ongoing adventures. Nevertheless, the material should be sufficiently organized to start getting an idea of the world space.   The Suggested Opening Plot for Aetheria Online page gives just that, and the page after that talks about a few campaign rationales and some character building switches that have to determined.
