Dimitris Harris Character in Xiantia Dominion | World Anvil

Dimitris Harris

This article is my visionary for 2019. Happy birthday to Dimitris of World Anvil Team !

I'm not gonna say something that can might actually ... DAMN IT !
Dimitris Harris was a human who lived on the continent of Ucron on the world of Icarro. It seems that he was a photographer and cartographer, two centuries after the war that ended his civilization.
He appeared to be a leader in spite of himself who guided a group of survivors. He was also the first to bring the children of the survivors together to form a community.   The archaeological teams sent to Icarro brought back a thousand-year-old camera. This camera has had several owners over time, which allowed to retranscribe major events in the history of this world.
Dimitris Harris was one of his many owners. Later, other archives about him were found and allowed to write a short biography about him.

Histoire Personnelle

A world is in ruins because it has been degraded by civilizations. But if you discover this world for the first time, it is no longer a ruined world. It will remain so because you call it and consider it as such. But in reality, it's a new world filled with mysteries. It is a piece of art.
1000 years ago, three hundred years before the birth of Dimitris, a great war between civilizations to know which would have total control on the continent of Ritrand. But a century later, the war ended in the annihilation of these civilizations. Out of billions, only a few thousand people survived. At that time, there were still many people living in the big dormitory towns, and the tensions caused by the war could still be felt.   When he was a child, he lost his parents while they were looking for supplies. But once separated, without a point of reference, they did not meet again. So he made the habit of making maps and even had fun doing them. Growing up, he dreamed of making a map of the whole world. What he did not know was that he would save lives with his maps.
One day, he fell on a group with several wounded. They were coming back from a scaffold with an enemy group and bouncing back. Unfortunately, a serious casualty could not go the way they wanted to follow. Dimitris, pointed to an old hospital and a more passable road. They thanked them and invited him to join their faction. That's when he saw the horrors of the war that was supposed to be over.   Their faction was mainly composed of children from 5 to 16 years old and most of them were wounded or disabled. Under the pretext that they were the children of a faction that had disappeared today, their enemies would attack them whenever they could.
This vision was intolerable for Dimitris. He pondered a solution and found, thanks to the cards, a way to save people.   Thanks to a clever tactic, he was able to make the three main factions that clashed, unite with others little factions. Having only three camps to distinguish, he maneuvered to push them to adopt a politics of the territory and avoid confronting each other. But the leaders were not due and suspected that there would be another step in this plan and it was not long before Dimitris unveiled his game.   According to the archives found, Dimitris was not particularly made to lead people. He was fortunate to had parents who gave him an education and a great culture despite the context.
Many groups reformed after the war and continued to make war through small clashes. They were not organized enough to considered their groups as communities and with the time it became obvious that they were not. But Dimitris stood out from everyone and spoke to convince. It was not necessary to unite to rebuild but rather to look to the future. He proposed to gather in a community to live a simple but happy life together. Their ancestors fought because of all these things they were trying to accomplish and because of their complicated lives. It was therefore necessary not to imitate them.   Supported by his friends, the leaders of the different groups listened to him and arrived to the conclusion that he was right. They would not have been able to survive if they did the same things that leads to the civilization's end. So they ended up allying and settle in a large dormitory city.
Dimitris was pushed by the different parties to become the leader of this community and had to lead all these people. Their community knew many adventures but managed to settle properly in a city.
Dimitris was not really appreciated by everyone. The leaders watched him do and tried to learn. But one in particular was very hostile to him and even tried to murder him. He failed, stopped by a dozen of his own supporters. The community then organized its first justice trial.
You are a leader and I am not one. But you chose me to guide us so I will. Actually, we need all the help and time. So as much as waiting to see the results in the long run before taking the rest of my head.
Thanks to his great culture, he was able to provide for his community and thanks to his maps, he knew where to find what they needed when they could not make it.   Dimitris died of the disease at the age of 68.

Réussites et Succès

Dimitris succeeds in reuniting sworn enemies or at least their descendants. They formed a community that he ran randomly for more than twenty years. This community still exists and is based in a dormitory city called Xaplas. The community is nowadays so great that it inhabits almost the whole city.
He left many notes that allowed his successors and descendants to take over and explain what needed to be done to see the city thrive even more. There are many inventions that were created from his notes but it is the culture he left that allowed the survivors to take advantage of their environment and tame it.   When Dimitris died, the new leader ordered the creation of a monument in commemoration. A statue of Dimitris was sculted and placed in the center of their community with a commemorative plaque. On it, we can still read:
Dimitris Harris
A philanthropist who drew maps to help people.
Founder of our community, our sage, our friend.
