War Power

A 'War Power' is not something used to describe a country, Magnus. The title is given to an individual that has the power to rival an entire Nation, by themselves. They are named such by the World's Rulers that all agree, even during times of war, that these individuals are to be given unique rights to ignore most laws and travel as they wish. It is the admittance of the world's leaders, their kings, emperors, and lords saying that even with their entire empires backing them: they cannot afford to anger these individuals. Though how I earned this title, I still don't know.
— High Wizard of Camelot, War Power, Merlin
There are few true "War Powers" within the world or even listed throughout history. The title was introduced during the year 92 AR to represent the leader of the ancient Akemu, Seiken. After standing up to not only the entire empire of Celestia, but holding it hostage against the Celestial itself. Using his power to form the world's third moon, and threatening to drop it ontop of the planet. Specifically directly ontop of Drakonia, if they didn't back down and give his clan freedom.   Afterward, Celestia reached out to the other countries of the world. Informing them of the threat-level that the man posed to any that stood in his, or his clan's way. With this, the first "War Power" was born. There have only been a total of three to exist ever since, including Merlin in their ranks, making the standard nearly impossible for most to reach.

Benefits

Despite the difficulty level of reaching such a state, requiring fame and power rivaling that of an entire empire's own, War Powers are not without their benefits. Due to rulers of entire nations, countries and empires granting you diplomatic immunity War Powers are allowed to do as they wish anywhere they go. Though individuals are welcome to attempt to stop them from performing illegal activities, doing so is understood to be done with no backup from their own country in the slightest. If one survives from trying to stop a War Power, they are generally put to death, brutally by their country.   This is due to the simple fact that if someone has been given the title of a War Power, they were given such a name to avoid angering them. In risking such, they risk the War Power attacking the ruling nation, spelling the equivalent of a natural disaster on the entire land. With this immunity, a War Power can request anything, of anyone, and generally get away with it. Though they may be begged to have mercy, no one can truly stop them aside from another War Power, or someone willing to wage the lives of their every citizen against them.

A very interesting article! It's a logical but unique way of looking at the demigod-like heroes that show up in many fantasy worlds, I rather like it.

I'm glad you like it! Though they're rare, I wanted to address the common idea found in many high-fantasy (and science fantasy in my world's case) of powerful individuals Though it is touched on a bit through the idea of Ascending, that's an even rarer and unknown concept. But a proper title and status was a very "modern" solution and label that humanoids would likely place on such people.

I can certainly see why nations don't want to mess with such powerful individuals.   I mean holding an entire nation at "moon"-point is one hell of a power move :D

"Moon"-point is something I never considered and is now my favorite thing. Once Seiken's profile is finished that is 100% going in it somewhere. It was definitely one of his biggest "flexes" though during his mortal life! Glad you enjoyed the article!

It reminds me of the manga Trigun... The humanoid typhoon! I enjoyed reading the article!

Hah! I haven't seen that comparison yet but I could certainly understand that viewpoint, yes! Glad you enjoyed!

I did have a dream once (in literal sense, one of those we get while we are sleeping, not the rhetorical kind) about a sort of medieval fantasy world where imortal gods lived among common people. They did not payed taxes_ funny how that seemed to be important in the dream_ and people do avoided to angry them, but that was a risk always present since one could not tell the gods apart from the mere mortals just by looking at them.   More or less like your War Powers. Except by the fact that there was a considerably larger number of those dangerous vindictive monsters in human shape walking around. They even had families, with some individuals being immortals and other mortals (rich and noble, but not divine).

Reminds me of "Gods Amoung Us"! Yeah these aren't legitimate gods, but many tend to ascend and become such. The first War Power was Seiken Akemu, who has long since ascended and become "Chaos".
