Sah'Wen

A tradition generally held within the end of harvest season within Zaria. Originating from Altris, and having spread from the nation through thousands of years. Sah'Wen is treated as a time to enjoy the successful harvest without partaking in its bounty and instead preparing for the upcoming celebration during the winter season. It tends to take place over a few days chosen by the leaders of the area to best fit into a time of rest before the harshness of winter, but after the final harvest.   It involves the creation of home made masks mimicking the appearance of demons to scare off evil spirits due to tricking them into assuming you are, yourselves, demons. Rooted in the ancient idea of a small village that was protected for a time by a Royal Daevata, and wearing masks in her honor led to spirits and Daevata fleeing from the mere mention of her.   Now, it's done with less serious intentions and is instead treated as a celebration and symbol of scaring away evil spirits. Though some locations celebrate the holiday with a bit more dedication, worship, or even sacrifice in some situations, it isn't normal.
