Divine Power
Tiers of Divinity
Though there are many gods within the world of Xardia, they each hold a level of power that theoretically, any individual could reach. The reality of the situation being no spirit manages to reach such a point generally. Those that have reached such a point are divided into tiers however, sometimes vaguely by their followers, and accurately by their peers. The bare-minimum requirement to refer to someone as a "Divine Power", and as such to count on this list, is to have managed to Ascend in some way. Be it that they have become a servant of another Divine Power, or managed to acquire their own Divine Power through realization.Awakened
Supposedly, the term given to a being whom supersedes even conceptual creation. Beings that are able to create worlds, concepts--universes. Little is known of this tier, and there are no known worshipers. Supposedly, an awakened being is what created Xardia, and its surrounding universe before separating itself across that universe to form the first concepts and greater divine powers.Concept
Less a true sapient creature, and instead a metaphysical sentient force representing a fragment of reality itself. These entities generally exist since the dawn of the universe. Beings such as "Death", "Life", "Time", "Emotion", and so forth. Each of these concepts are spread across all of reality. Generally, they do not directly intervene and instead act by enforcing their beliefs on the greater gods that represent their concepts.Greater
The upper limits of a Divine Power, these are beings whom represent entire aspects of creation for a single world. Beings whom are named for powerful concepts such as "Light" or "Time". Separate from their parent concepts, they are instead bound specifically to their own world and have little power outside of it. A planet will generally only have a Pantheon of ten to fifteen true Greater powers with the various Lesser and Demigods enforcing their powers from there.- Celestial: Law, Order, Justice
- Daemon: Freedom, Emotion, Chaos
- Izanami (Manea, Hel): Death, Rebirth, Balance
- Njoran (Posidon, Tor): Water, Life, Storms
- Harlow/in (Solis, Apola): Light, Fertility, Love
Lesser
Those that have managed to reach true Divine Power and formed their own personal permanent Demiplanes of grand expanses connected to the Aether, and their bound world are known as Lesser Divine Powers. They generally handle greater concepts that reside beneath their Greater parent, such as a god of the "Sun" underneath the Greater Power of "Light".- Elend: Mourning, Perseverence
- Freyr/ja (Nomkhu, Virida/os): Protection, Agriculture
- Vilitris (Ogmas, Peithas, Mimir): Knowledge, Responsibility
- Thanatos (Hades, Anukis): Death, History
- Sirona (Sinan): Healing, Springs/Rivers
- Cennitus (Fervus, Woden): Hunting, Wild Nature
Idols
Beings whom hold power comparable to proper gods but instead are bound to the Material Plane. They are capable of feats that can shape worlds and are generally beings that have refused proper godhood after reaching the point of Demigod of their own merit. As such, they rarely traverse into the Planes and instead linger on the Material Plane for various reasons of their own. When a being that has died represents the purest form of a concept, they can be offered to become "Avatars" of that concept, granting them the immediate Divine Power of an Idol.- Seiken (Andarte): Conquest, Battle
- Tiamat (Echidna): Contracts, Fate, Monsters
- Basheer (Triton): Seafaring, Protection
- Fashir (Arcam, Faefather): Self-Sacrifice, Love
- Ruutai (Ignis, Ikarus): Redemption, Fire
Vestige
When a being of Lesser or higher power is slain, they have reached a level of power that they cannot be truly "destroyed". These beings instead shatter and re-form into something new, with fragments of their old personalities and memories. These beings are generally much weaker than their original form, and no longer hold a proper Divine Aspect. Instead, they are incredibly powerful spirits bound to the world holding the dregs of their original Divine power.- Gaia: Life, Nature, Growth
Demigods
When a mortal has managed to properly ascend, regardless of the method, they acquire a fragment of Divine Power. This introduces them to divinity, and allows them to connect to an aspect of reality. Generally something highly specific such as a single moon, a mountain range, a series of famous wars, or one large forest they were closely bound to in life. They take physical form and are bound to the Material Plane generally, only able to visit the planes and Demiplanes associated with their parent Divines.- Moonwitch (Kara): Moonlight, Dark Forests
Household
Often referred to as a "Household God", these are beings that are technically not true Divine Powers. They have no true aspect, however, they have managed to acquire dregs of Divine Power through the Mental Energy provided by worshipers. As such, they are viewed as even weaker than Demigods worshipped by a village, or even a long line of family members. They are bound to their worshipers, and entirely reliant upon them to maintain the little Divine Power they hold. They are generally compared to very weak War Power's bound to a single location.Avatars
A vague concept that is less a direct rank, and more a powerful extension of a diety. Theoretically, an Avatar could be stronger than even a Greater Power. However, this is incredibly rare. Avatar's are the physical manifestation of a being bound to the upper planes due to their power. Thus allowing a being of the tier of Lesser Power or higher to still interact with the Material Plane despite being unable to actually visit it directly. Most are a step beneath proper Demigods, but their true powers can vary. Such as the Avatar's of "Death" being comparable instead to a Lesser Power or Idol as a "Reaper" for a planet.Divine Servants
General worship of a Divine Power is common, and this is beneficial to all involved. Well-known and fact within the world, as knowledge of spirits and deities existing is an accepted fact across the world in various cultures. This is due to the fact that in return for their worship, beings are granted additional power through Mental Power. In return, the being listens to the prayers and requests of their worshipers out of their own interest at the very least, with many gods also doing so simply out of pity or a sense of responsibility. Normal worshipers are not granted direct power, but will instead find indirect answers to their requests and prayers the wider spread they may be for a community. A common example would be found in a community calling for good harvest from their god of agriculture due to continuous drought. The community offers a grand festival and worship, spreading the word and purity of faith in the community and visitors. In return, the deity infuses the soil with superior nutrients and summons rain to cancel the drought. Or another example being a village plagued by monsters and reaching out for protection from their god, whom summons forth a chosen they grant power to go to the village and solve its problems, further spreading their influence.Chosen
Individuals whom have been granted power through either worship or pact with a Divine Power, though rare, exist (ie. Paladins, Clerics, and Warlocks). The amount of power that they offer these individuals varies based on the amount of faith or dedication that they offer to the Divine Power in question. The key difference between the two terms is that a Warlock patron is bound to the Material Plane, and as such the connection is direct. This also makes the Warlock's Divine Power a weaker entity, but one more able to directly intervene with the world. Clerics and Paladins are instead bound to a powerful being through faith and oath, the beings gain power through this mental energy and in return grant them access to powerful divine spells, but in return are unable to directly intervene with the world.Blessed
Mortals whom have received the blessing of a Divine Power, but not to the point of gaining access to their power through worship or spells. Separate from both Warlocks and Clerics, these individuals instead are granted a fraction of Divine Power that is similar in power to a Unique Talent, but can be removed at any time by the Divine Power which granted it in the first place.Godlings
Individuals that have been born from the union of a Divine Power and mortal, generally through the usage of an avatar but occasionally through another unusual union. They can also be manifested through exceptional circumstances or rituals, creating a new being through a surge of mental energy or unusual changes in Leylines. The term is also used colloquially in reference to a being of Divine Power bound to the material plane.- Rex Family
