Idrako

Idrako are the water-faring Draconic of the South. They live in areas with freshwater, though some prefer the sea. Experts at fishing and hunting in the water, they prefer their secluded life. Recent treaties and integration with the Kingdom of Agnum put them in a new spotlight they are not used to.

Culture

Culture and cultural heritage

Culture varies between clans, they don't all have the exact same customs and beliefs. Ethnically similar draconic from similar areas are more likely to have similar customs, but no two clans in any case are the exact same. They each have their own stories and practices developed outside of practices that all Draconic hold onto from before the Scourge. Even languages are not the exact same, though they branch off from the same few ancient Dragon languages, there are different dialects.   The Idrako clans share a common ancestor in the Sea Dragons from ancient times. There is a bit of rivalry between Idrako who live by the seas and those who live by the rivers and lakes.

Clans

Although the southern realms are hot and unrelenting, none understand the importance of the waters better than the Idrako clans, who revere the oceans and rivers more than any other creature in Xanthiri. They all tend to worship Tsuna in some fashion, as it is the moon that compels the tides they live and die by.

Yendi Clan

The Yendi roam the Giza Marshes, and quite often migrate across the Itiri Desert to visit Tuin Oasis. While the conditions of the marshes are difficult to live in for others, the Yendi have developed advanced medicines that combat the various venomous and poisonous creatures of the marshes. Iarada, god of medicine and plague, is their chosen patron.

Noon’gar Clan

In the Shimmering Sands live the Noon’gar. This beachy area holds great cultural significance to the Noon’gar, as underneath the sands lies a natural hot spring. They dig up the sand during low tide to great shallow pools that they use in magical rites that they use for healing and for glimpsing Fate.

Oneye Clan

The Oneye live on the Kito Isles, broken up into smaller tribes across the islands. They are adept swimmers in the ocean, swimming great lengths between islands. Fishing is their trademark however, using an ancient spear technique that doubles as their fighting style.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Names

Draconcic names are all unisex. They do not formally have family names, but introduce themselves as members of a clan.

Religion

Idrako follow the Ancient Draconic gods of the past. Idrako are partial to giving special homage to Tsuna, goddess who created the moon and pushes waves. She is also the goddess of vengeance and justice.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

Shine Gerel

This ritual is extremely important to the Idrako, who celebrate and prepare for days, much longer than any other draconic. The clan's priest will give the baby its first bath in specially blessed water from their river or the ocean.

Coming of Age Rites

So'dua

This rite is actually somewhat rare in Idrako clans. They tend to have a difficult time leaving their family behind, preferring to stay with their clan in case anything were to happen. The young draconic who do undergo this rite are considered very brave.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Idrako value scales that are well taken care of, polished and clean. If they match the color of the sea, they are considered particularly beautiful.

Gender Ideals

The southern Draconic do not really assign gender roles, despite loosely assigning gender based on sex. However, they do hold the position of Motherhood dearly, much like their eastern siblings. For them, there is more to being a mother than giving birth. Surrogacy, adoption, and teaching are all ways one can be a "mother," so it is not strictly for women.

Relationship Ideals

Typically, it is clan leaders who assign marriages across different clans. They try to connect and bridge clans across Agnum via marriage. It is usually the smaller clan that takes in the new partner from the other clan, as a way to ensure no one clan becomes too small or too crowded.
