Culture and cultural heritage

There were once agricultural empires on Yukur, filled with life and riches and culture. They were all swept away, replaced with nomadic tribes and coastal city-states. Writing was all but abandoned, which made Yukuric culture much more fluid. Today, Tuhra has more in common with the empires of old than the tribes of Yukur. Still, this doesn't mean that Yukur's music was abandoned. Harmonicas of bronze, flutes of silver, and other instruments of value were prized possessions, and used avidly. Yukuric musical and harmonic tradition can still trace its ancestry back thousands of years, which is more than most cultures can boast.

Shared customary codes and values

The people of Yukur keep all valuable items they can find. Perhaps the trinkets they carry remind them of their past glory. Regardless, it can become an issue. There are stories of nomad tribes who died in the desert because the backs of their beasts of burden gave way, and the tribespeople were left abandoned in the sand. To prevent a disaster like this, tribes often have rituals in which they bury a great many of their possessions deep in a communal pit. If they can, they will return to it to bask in their glory.

Yukur is long bereft of power and influence, but the inhabitants therein still act as if they lost none. The great conflicts are simply scaled down to fit the new environment. Wars over mountains and valleys become how much space one's tent occupies. Ideological struggles are whittled down to quibbles over which meal of the day is best. The Yukuric culture is petty, because the one who doesn't fight for the smallest morsel won't get one at all.

Beauty Ideals

Shoulder length is a preferable element. Those with broad shoulders are considered manly and handsome, while those with thin shoulders are considered womanly and beautiful. Often, fake shoulders are made and worn. Obviously neighbors would notice the attempt, but the true size of the shoulders would be concealed.
