Wt'kroiya T'krauweru: Annual Explosion

History

When the Tyawelru appeared in the sky during the Weeks Without Sleep, many Tuhrans believed that the end of the world was nigh. Its subsiding, therefore, was a period of rejoicing for the Tuhrau people. While there was no religious significance to the event, the Tuhrau people still wanted to remember the occasion for all time, as a testament to how the world managed to live through such a terrible time. Many subcultures began their own small practices. As these practices mingled together, they conglomerated into a single festival: the Annual Explosion.

Execution

The festival is meant to be a happy celebration, though the obscene amounts of death associated with the original event give the festival an aura of insanity. Attendees rise early in the morning and enjoy the festival well into the night, usually past midnight, in commemoration of how little sleep their ancestors once had. The landscape is filled with the light of torches, and often villagers would spend nights singing songs and staring directly into large wood fires built especially for the occasion. To compensate for the fatigue and the eye hurt, feasting, drinking, and events are provided in excess.

The mascot of the Annual Explosion is a young female of the town, dressed in armor and brandishing a sword, who wanders the land and partakes in as many of the sports as possible. She conceals beside her hip a large bag of blood, which is pierced with a sword on the final night of the event when the Battle Maiden constellation is highest in the sky.

Observance

The Annual Explosion is hosted every year on the anniversary of the last of the Weeks Without Sleep. Some cultures celebrate the festival during the entirety of the Weeks Without Sleep to a lesser degree, but even the Tuhrans know not to drag leisure on for too long.
