Wlitowa's Resurrection

The Conflict

Prelude

The Keyrit-Ugo'yt War had gone on for a decade, across all parts of Wouraiya. The Ugo-yt Empire had captured and then lost Unterritory. They swept through Yukur and conquered Tuhra from its Wlitowan overlords. The Doyog Pact was forced to pull back from all overseas excursions and territories outside Unterritory. For a few years, there was a moment of informal peace, with the exception of a few small skirmishes on the seas.

During this time, Ugo-yt had been gathering resources for a mass invasion of Wlitowa, the southern half of the Doyog Pact. In 306, The Ugo-yt Empire launched an amphibious assault on Wlitowa's eastern coastal city of Tereta. As strong as the Wlitowan defenses were, the republic was taken completely by surprise, and Tereta fell almost instantly. Ugo-yt forces stormed across the plains, and the populace of the seaside capital of Ak'tawo on the other side evacuated across Little Uketya to Keyrit, the northern half of the Doyog Pact.

Deployment

Over the new few years, the Ugo-yt invasion of Keyrit and the Keyrit liberation of Wlitowa were both discussed and wargamed to no end. The Ugo-yt Empire wanted a two-pronged assault into Welokyi before crossing the mountains towards the capital, while Keyrit wanted to undermine Ugo-yt authority on the Wlitowan continent. Using WelKworp's old smuggling routes, Keyrit managed to move several hundred soldiers into the larger cities to aid potential insurgency.

More importantly, the underground soldiers brought with them the Kroror, a unique tool that could grow Kauaru into giants. Wlitowa being the newfound home of the Kauaru, there were many potential dissident candidates. However, the reemergence of giants would attract the attention of what was at that time the largest military in the world, so the Keyrit forces saved their tools for the day of revolution. Further, the Kroror had limited uses left, though no one exactly knew how many uses were left. The Kroror would be completely depleted during this excursion, as it was the moment of greatest need. In the meantime, they built small models of Ak'tawo and Tereta for their future test subjects to train and drill.

The Engagement

No fewer than fourteen giants, the largest assembly of enlarged Kauaru in recorded (non-legend) history, fell upon Ak'tawo. Keyrit wanted and prepared for twenty, but the Kroror ran out before then. They were aided by hundreds of special operatives from Keyrit and several thousand farmers from Wlitowa's Graer plains. Because most of Ak'tawo had been evacuated, they laid waste to all the buildings indiscriminately. The Ugo-yt army that was garrisoned there had occupied the empty houses and beds as an alternative to their mobile barracks, and so those who weren't on duty or drilling were wiped out almost instantly.

Even with the raw power of the giants, the Ugo-yt had projectiles and energy weapons specifically for taking down large objects. Because those large objects were intended for relatively-stationary targets, they were relatively clunky. Even still, they kept most of the giants at bay in Ak'tawo, until a few nimble giants dodged the trajectories and neutralized the threats.

The giants in Ak'tawo had to cross a mighty plain before heading to Tereta. The garrison in Tereta had a bevy of giant-killers and had such a large field of view that the entire Graer was turned into no man's land. The giants couldn't cross, and the bulk of the Ugo-yt forces (including the would-be Keyrit invasion force) was crushed in the resurrection. It was up to the Keyrit operatives and Wlitowan farmers, then, to covertly disable the weaponry. By the time the Ugo-yt occupiers realized what had happened, the giants were now in Tereta, trying to be much more careful with the city this time on account of the Wlitowan residents who still resided there.

Soon, the entire continent was under control of the Doyog Pact. The Ugo-yt military suffered a severe blow and lost both the advantage and the momentum. The war would continue to go on, even reaching outer space, but Ugo-yt's dreams of world conquest were no longer guaranteed.
