Kauaru: Giants
Basic Information
Anatomy
The earliest Kauaru were most likely ten to twelve international cubits tall. However, intermixing with humans has led to a decreased average height. A primary feature of the Kauaru is an additional bone plate below the diaphragm for structural integrity. Further, Kauaru have small air sacs just beneath the shoulder to keep their center of balance low.
The body of the Kauaru is built to support its size. Her upper bones are more hollow, so her lower legs are responsible for her blood cell count. As a result, the leg bones of the Kauaru might be considered just as vital organs as her heart. Speaking of, her heart is much larger in proportion to humans. By contrast, her other muscles have difficulty lifting any more than her own weight. Light weaponry is most typical for the Kauaru.

Genetics and Reproduction
Only females show signs (and effects) of carrying the Kauaru genetic code, but there is no determined reason why men cannot carry it. Kauaru carriers reproduce alongside humans.
Growth Rate & Stages
Kauaru were thought to grow linearly in height. However, studies have shown that they in fact grow at a very narrowly exponential rate, and that the exponential growth can be activated in descendants.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Because of the bone plate beneath the diaphragm, Kauaru cannot overeat. Because of liver specifications, Kauaru also cannot drink alcohol. However, they can eat small quantities of pure metal; their teeth are strong enough, and their stomachs are hardy enough.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The cerebellum and brain stem of the Kauaru are separated from the cerebrum and are located closer to the intestines and pelvis. Often there will be a few second's delay between the Kauaru wishing to stop, and the Kauaru stopping.
Kauaru often suffer from krokroi, which affects their vision substantially. However, they can hear everything that humans can hear as well as a few lower ranges. When their sight works, it can see over farther distances.

Civilization and Culture
Common Dress Code
To compensate for size, Kauaru dress code was very simplistic, for example tarps with holes serving as ponchos. Often Kauaru opted out of clothing, especially in poorer or hotter regions. As Kauaru integrated with humanity, their clothing habits became more elaborate, adapting to humanity.
History
Legends say that the Kauaru came from a mythical land to the west called Ret-ko-kuah, where the further inland one went, the taller the giants were. A land was discovered far to the west, but the soil was too soft for fossils, and no other evidence of civilization existed on that landmass.
Scientific Name
Homo Altus
Conservation Status
The species is rare, and dies out as time progresses. While still technically around through genetics, the height of the Kauaru is practically gone, to the point where descendants are indistinguishable from normal humans.
