A'aroro: Grandest House

Purpose / Function

The A'aroro was the third house of the Wlitowai monarchy. The first house, preserved through the ages, was no larger or more grand than any other noble establishment. The king wanted a greater house and so built a castle. This castle was designed and built by humans, and not for his kauaru queen and daughter. Three generations later, a noble kauaru lady tripped and collided into the wall of the castle, causing structural damage so extensive that a new house became necessary.

The A'aroro could have been just another house, but the king had further ambitions. It would not only be kauaru-friendly but also house all the king's envoys, and the ministers of government. It would be the hub from which all decrees would be executed, and all petitions would be heard. The A'aroro was Wlitowa's largest and most advanced engineering project to date, and it was staffed and funded accordingly.

Architecture

The A'aroro has incredibly high ceilings, to accommodate for its kauaru residents. The stonework comes from the local mountains of western Wlitowa and so has a dark yellowish gray color. The floor is primarily dark gray from imported stone from Wlitowaru'u. The floor patterns are decorated with small limestone squares from Yattau in Tuhra. In the midst of the stone patterns are well-trimmed grass, fed with sunlight from large windows which line the walls. The king's daughter wanted the feel of grass without the trouble of outdoors weather, so the king made it so. An intricate series of ducts in the roof and the floor allow for ample air conditioning without any moving parts.

The throne room is tall but stands at the side of the A'aroro, to give its grass ample light. At its front is a hallway that leads straight out of the building. Behind it are the great bedrooms of the royal family. To its side is the kitchen, then the living quarters of the royal ministers, of all sizes and shapes befitting the various statuses. Surrounding the lot are administration rooms, where the ministers work with royal documents and meet with the commoners.
