The Arc Calendar

The Arc Calendar is a calendar used by the majority of the Chartered Sky, especially within The Cluster. It was developed and introduced by the aarakocra Archimedes, officially adopted by The Cluster's governments at the start of the New Age.

The Arc Calendar is a solar calendar with 12 months of 28 days each, resulting in one year, otherwise referred to as an Arc. These arcs are identified by consecutive arc numbers. A calendar date is fully specified by the arc (numbered according to a calendar era, in this case the New Age), the month (identified by name or number), and the day of the month (numbered sequentially starting from 1). Although the calendar arc currently runs from 1 Frost to 28 Darkness, at previous times year numbers were based on a different starting point within the calendar.

In the old Storm calendar, the year would automatically cycle at 'Behemoth's Passing,' a sighting witnessed within the Ever-Storm. Furthermore years were instead counted by how many cycles took place in between sightings, as well as lacking organised weekdays. The Arc reform omitted these features in favour of a more structured calendar, to accurately measure the passage of time.

The Seasons

The four seasons which exist within an arc and the months which occupy them are as follows:
WINTER
  • Month of Odes / Month of Darkness / Month of Frost
SPRING
  • Month of Morning Stars / Month of Seeds / Month of Aether
SUMMER
  • Month of Fog / Month of Light / Month of Eclipse
AUTUMN
  • Month of Rains / Month of Mana / Month of Storms
