Kingdom of Reqir
-Aligned with the Goddess Terra, goddess of the earth.
-Capital City is Belegrad, located on the northwestern coastline, is famous for its massive stone walls over 8 stories high.
Somewhat diverse landscape. Some large sections of desert and rock in the southwestern region, contrasted by the dense forests of the eastern lands. Some small mountainous clumps are also present and scattered around. Most of the land is flat land perfect for farming. Most of the year is warm and muggy, but during the winter season the temperature cools down enough for snowfall in the northern mountainous parts of the kingdom but not so in the southern region. 2/3 of the year = warm weather perfect conditions for crops for most areas.
Soil is incredibly fertile and thus farming is very effective and the crops produced are the kingdoms biggest export.
The kingdom under normal circumstances is run by a monarch with absolute power. It has become custom in recent centuries, however, for other high ranking officials to be designated authority over specific areas like commerce, military, etc. Mining is the second-largest export but is much much much less than agriculture. Most of the earth in Reqir is loose and hard rock can't be found until much deeper than in other places. This means the only viable places for a mine are in the few mountain ranges which have produced reasonable results. Also, while not necessarily an export, since it is the home of Terra the goddess of the earth, Reqir has a high volume of magic users with an attunement for manipulating earth. This makes Reqirian magic users highly valued in the fields of architecture and construction.
As almost 75% of the population of Reqir are farmers, most of the population is fairly under-educated and the subject is treated as a second priority behind serving the state and the family.
Reqir also has a standing military in addition to the knights of the Kingsmen and the Garrison. Serving the military even in times of peace is considered a high honor. Children are permitted to apply and "tryout" as young as 12 but only those ages 16 and over will actually be considered. This is because similar to modern-day sports, the state has been known to "scout" for both magical and physical talent. Even though they won't be accepted the year they apply, it still allows kids from all over to show their stuff and get a look from those who could one day be their superior.
-(Military)Despite the riches gained from exporting food and supplies from the harvest, most of these farmers grow up and live relatively poor lives. The state's first priority is developing and preserving the status and superiority of the military. Workers in the capital and members of the military and government are paid much better and taken much better care of than the farmers who power the kingdom. This leads many people to see joining the military as a way to reach the next level and escape poverty, and thus these "auditions" for young candidates become even more important.
Architecture: As many of Reqir's prosperous towns are located in or near forests, wood is the material of choice for most of their structures. Poorer settlements or new locations of interest often have a "shanty" kinda look to them often utilizing mismatched sizes of wood and scrap metal sheeting. Thatched roofs are also common as the materials don't cost much or can be produced from the town. The large cities of Reqir, however, are especially known for their magnificence. The tallest man-made structure in fact resides in the capital city of Belegrad.
Earth-based and air-based magic users are especially sought after in the field of engineering and architecture. With such a high concentration of earth magic users, Reqir is capable of producing structures that other kingdoms cannot. The wall for example surrounding Belegrad was constructed in only a single year and completely surrounds the city. This feat would have likely taken any other kingdom at least a decade.
