WorldEmber 2021 Hub & Pledge Document

I pledge to write 10,000 words of worldbuilding during WorldEmber in December, 2021. I also have a stretch goal of 25,000 words that I will also attempt.

— kitoypoy, Worldbuilder and Grand Master of Overextending Myself

This will be my third WorldEmber. I'm very proud of the world building that I accomplish during these events that World Anvil does and I'm very grateful to them and the community for everything that they do.

WorldEmber 2021 Goals

As usual, I intend to work on the immense backlog of stubs that I create over a year. I also have two areas to focus on in my world that are coming up in my current D&D campaigns. I need to flesh out the fortresses around the Kirinal Pit to go along with the incredible artwork I've been commissioning. One of my campaigns is also landing on the Shattered Moon in December, so I need to get at least some of that figured out!

Planned Articles

I created a list of stub articles for WorldEmber 2020 and I'm doing the same this year. I'm also including last year's incomplete stubs here so that I can see them to work on. They are all stubs in various levels of completion. Some have headers, some have rollover prompts, all of them are under 50 words and need work!

As I complete them, I'll add a "Completed" stamp. I discovered last year that adding the css class was almost as satisfying as giving it a good thwack with a real stamp!

New Areas of Focus

Armies of the Pit

I've received two beautiful pieces of commissioned artwork (on the sidebar) that have really inspired me to improve on and expand on the locations depicted in them. They're two of the main fortresses on the Kirinal Pit, the focus of most of my campaigns. I look at the art and I find myself full of questions that I want to answer.

  1. Who is in charge?
  2. What troops are stationed there?
  3. Who lives there?
  4. What are the protocols during the different Days of the Week?
  5. What does normal life look like in these gigantic mystical fortresses?
  6. Who's working against them?

Shards of the Moon

Literally a world away, one of my player groups has finally completed their quests to get themselves to the Shattered Moon and raise a new god. I have barely thought about what's on the Moon and who lives there. I have to work on:

  1. The main Moon Fortress of the Elves.
  2. The Elven Moon Armies
  3. Factions on the moon, what happened to the non-elves.
  4. What bad guys are on the moon.
  5. What's the geography?
  6. Plan the Lunar Invasion that's happening as the players arrive.
  7. Build out the dreadnought "Will of Malfador".
  8. Build out the invading army.
  9. Build out the final forms of Xeno/Malfador and ending challenges.

Oh my goodness! I hadn't seen the commission piece for the Tower and it's just as stunning as the Bulwark! Looking forward to the new articles and the improved ones, and also the new moon--that sounds like there's gonna be some really fun new stuff heading our way for WorldEmber :)

This is a well made article for your efforts this WorldEmber. I hope it helps you stay on task this December, as it has inspired me for the framework for my own efforts. Good luck with WorldEmber 2021!

Lot of great stuff to work on here. I can see why you want(ed) to start using those commissioned pieces. They're fantastic! Anyway, I loved reading a bit more about your world here and reminding myself what's in store.
