Episode 14: The Fall of Xeno Report
The crew is still exploring the Gray Angels old temple hideout when they are approached by a strange masked winged aasimar from behind them. He claims his name is Aiden , and he needs assistance. He is pursued by some more hobgoblins, and the crew takes them out, but not before that group calls for reinforcements. Those reinforcements bring out a fireball and some advanced tactics, but, before that fight resolves, everyone is magically pulled down into the belly of the temple where a strange ritual was being performed and Xeno teleported into the center of the sacrificial circle. The crew was restrained by part of the rituals magic. The mitrhil spear Spark was carrying from Throim got seized from the rituals magic and lanced Xeno. As he screamed from experiencing the pain of having his soul subsumed by fiendish apotheosis. Nia's cauldron of rebirth also was drawn into the ritual to restore Xeno's punctured body. The body, spear and cauldron all fused in an explosion of magic, limbs and hellfire. From the ritual, Xeno was reborn as an Avator of Malfador, the god of Lies. As soon as his birth was complete, Malfador magically fled with his cultists out of the temple. The crew was released, short a soulforged and lost in cavernous depths. However, they did discover a chained up Entelluse Elven witch named Elwene. She revealed herself to be a spy that had a wealth of knowledge about the situation involving Malfador and the Gray Angels. Dirk used to secretly run the Gray Angels (!) and is a Paladin devoted to Malfador(!), but hobgoblins from Safara moved in to take over the Gray Angels while looking for The Last Warlock to help return the Lich King. So, Dirk sent us down there to kill his hobgoblin enemies and bring the parts and Xeno's body for Malfador to inhabit. The crew vowed to bring down Dirk and El joined in with a promise to also help recover Xeno if it can be done. However, as the left the temple, they witnessed the horrifying dawn of a new moon.
