The Life of Stendaaris Dragons
Stendaaris Dragons
The dragons that live on the World of Stendaaris were given a life bless or life curse by the patron of all dragons. Some dragons see this gift as a positive and others see it as a negative. The gift of life that was given to the dragons on Stendaaris was modified imortality. Does this means is the first dragons that ever walked, flew, swam, or even burrowed on Stendaaris are the same dragons? The answer to that is "No?", because anytime a dragon dies they have the potential to linger, reborn or be awoken.Lingering Dragon
This type of passing is disturbing. The only time that a dragon lingers is if they have undergon some ritual that cuts them off from the powers of the patron of all dragons. These dragons typically will linger around the spirit plane haunting souls on the material. Some dragon researchers think that these dragons are agents of other gods or even wizards that have turned themselves into dragons. Either way the connection to the patron dragon isn't fully there and thus they lost the ability to be reborn or awoken.Reborn again Dragon
Reborn again dragons are what truly happens. They get magically turned into a dragon egg. This egg hatches and the dragon typically doesn't have any memory of their passed life. There are exemptions to this but the standard is if a dragon dies they typically have no memories. The magic bestoewed to a reborn dragon also restores any cursed afiliations to them. However, a dragon egg is the most vunerable state of a Stendaaris Dragon. This is the point were evil wizards have started to alter the form of the dragon when it is reborn. How to restore memories!
The standard reborn again stendaaris dragon fails to recover any of its previous memories. This is one of the few reasons dragons see this gift as a curse. However, with all things there is an exemption. If a dragon was to die doing a heroic deed to the world there is a one percent chance that they will regain all their memories. If a dragon died and a spell was cast to resurect the dragon a few things can occur. First, pending on the level and type of spell determines the size of the egg. The greater the spell the larger the egg. Second, the larger the egg the more likely it will have all its previous lives memories. Third, when this magically charged egg hatches the dragon is reborn as a wyrmling, young, adult, or even ancient dragon pending on the eggs size. What happens is the resurection magic pending on the power will determin the new age and with it a chance at the memories of the previous life.Awakened Dragon
This is one of the most intense rebirths a dragon can undergo. If a dragon has lived enough lives and enough time on Stendaaris to classify that dragon as one of the elite or great wyrm status dragons. This is what can happen to them. If a great wyrm or dragon whose status is that of a great wyrm. They can undergo a quickened rebirth. This only occurs once the dragon has been killed or been inflicted with such a devestating killing blow. This quickened rebirth also embarks the last time this dragon can ever be reborn as a great wyrm if they die again. When a dragon enters its awakened form it instiantly remembers all their past lives regardless of reasons and comes back as a great wyrm. If a dragon was reborn as a young dragon that is mentally as old as a great wyrm if they undergo this awakened state their body painfully erupts into size of a great wyrm instead.Altering Dragon Eggs
Only the most corrupted individuals in the world have ever attempted such evil acts to a majestic dragon egg. These hanious acts can be cross firtilizing a dragon egg with another creature. This has been seen with some of the various Chromatic Titan Terragons especially Tedi, The Stone Killer. Poor Tedi was a victim of a cross breeding experiment with a basilisk thus mutating its form into a Dracolisk part dragon part basilisk. This is an extreme example of the mutations that can occur to a vunerable dragon egg. The other thing that can occur is a dragon egg can be plunged into a dracolich ritual and when it hatchs it becomes a dracolich instead of the dragon it intended to become.
