Arcaninum Skirmish

The Conflict

Prelude

Ascension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess

In his tenure at the Academy of Thorn'Adan, Ryo "Kardun" Nexus slowly became addicted to more advancement in necromancy spells and rituals. He joined a secret order called the Cult of Mystra's Folly that was banned from students and members of the Academy of Thorn'Adan in joining. Some of his apprentices joined the Cult of Mystra's Folly with him. They would have a secret meeting on the Isle of Thorn'Adan hidden away via a cave along the northern beach. A few apprentices recently joined the Cult of Mystra's Folly weeks prior to this skirmish. One of these apprentices was also patroning Ryo "Kardun" Nexus, which was Zefaris "Phone." She is a resident from Thorn'Adan. The latter has never left the Isle of Thorn'Adan but was a very adept learner in all things regardless of her social tendencies. She is also a stickler for rules and proper manners. After undergoing the ritual to join the Cult of Mystra's Folly, she researched it in The Academy of Thorn'Adan's library. Here she discovered this organization and all things associated with it have been banned at The Academy of Thorn'Adan. She quickly confided in two former classmates, Allie Fizzpebble and Ascelin Veabrid. These two quickly contacted Frazora Wheatley and Isacaryn Earthcrest and informed them of what was happening. They learned some of his plans in their confrontation with Ryo "Kardun" NexusThey quickly left to report this matter to Vincent "Vinton" Tonga.

Declension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess

In the weeks leading up to the skirmish, leaders of the Academy of Thorn'Adan have started hearing rumors of undead creatures showing up in Thorn'Adan. They have also had multiple reports that some Necromancy students are returning past curfew without permission. They have also reported that these same students would be skipping classes in other areas of magic to balance out their training. When the report of students attending cult rituals off campus in the evenings, the Grand Master Wizard Council, excluding Ryo "Kardun" Nexus, met to discuss options regarding this. Frazora Wheatley and Isacaryn Earthcrest volunteered to directly confront Ryo "Kardun" Nexus with all these allocations.

Deployment

Ascension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess

After being confronted by Frazora Wheatley and Isacaryn Earthcrest, Ryo "Kardun" Nexus contacted the elite members of the Cult of Mystra's Folly and his necromancers in the Silver Shadow Clan. He advised them to get to The Academy of Thorn'Adan as quickly as possible. He also advised all his students to disperse into any secret corridor or place used for hiding in the Academy of Thorn'Adan.

Declension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess

After Frazora Wheatley and Isacaryn Earthcrest reported to Vincent "Vinton" Tonga about Ryo "Kardun" Nexus. Vincent "Vinton" Tonga said he would be right back. During this time, he traveled to Sarkova Diconemus directly instead of using the sending spell. He asked Sarkova Diconemus to undergo various Divination rituals to see if there was a way for the least amount of destruction to life and physical locations on the Isle of Thorn'Adan. Sarkova Diconemus just looked back at Vincent "Vinton" Tonga grim-faced and slapped him. Then said, "How can you be so dense in leaving a battlefield." Sarkova Diconemus then teleported back to the Academy of Thorn'Adan along with Vincent "Vinton" Tonga. Sarkova Diconemus, already resorting to plan C told Vincent "Vinton" Tonga to get an orb to the Vaults of Thorn'Adan. Sarkova Diconemus then contacted the other Grand Master Wizard Council about an incoming skirmish within the halls of the Academy of Thorn'Adan. Syldan Liadon, Apeacmith Xyrinn, and Tibor De'la Thorn'Adan quickly arrived. In the chaos, Apeacmith Xyrinn, Frazora Wheatley, and Isacaryn Earthcrest set off to the last known location of Ryo "Kardun" Nexus. Vincent "Vinton" Tonga and Syldan Liadon were advised to seal Ryo Nexus's Wizard Tower. While that was happening, Tibor De'la Thorn'Adan and Sarkova Diconemus were advised to evacuate any servants, guests, and other dignitaries to the academy.

The Engagement

Ascension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess

Ryo "Kardun" Nexus has always advised his students to fall back to the northern beach if they were to ever need assistance. He also advised his necromancers Acerow The Doctor, Kelos the Harvester, Tevan Deville, and Taureas Nightshade of his trap. First, he cast a silence spell where he previously was. Then he advised them to stay out of it and ready Power Word Kill and Counterspell. While that was going off, Ryo "Kardun" Nexus spoke into his Cult Ring of Mystra's Folly, and all his students wearing a similar ring heard the following.
It's time for the Ascension of Necromancy in the halls of Academy of Thorn'Adan.
Lich Kardun
As soon as the necromancy students heard this, they started small skirmishes within the halls with their colleagues. Ryo "Kardun" Nexus and his students listened to his words when learning Necromancy. Never hold back your skill; otherwise, the creatures under your control will overrun you. If you have something powerful, use it at its full power.   Ryo "Kardun" Nexus then looked back at his necromancers and asked if his clone was ready in the Ruins of Hartlepool. With the confirmation, he told them to cast as many fireballs in this room and leave. In embracing this, his essence was awakened in a clone hundreds of miles away. Leaving behind his body and the ashes of those left in his trap.

Declension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess

As that was going on, the three Apeacmith Xyrinn, Frazora Wheatley, and Isacaryn Earthcrest instantly fell into Ryo "Kardun" Nexus trap and perished. Any spell they were going to use in response to seeing the trap was instantly prevented with the silence spell. Their counterspells were also canceled, and they were instantly killed. Then turned to ash after Ryo "Kardun" Nexus' next phase of his plan.   While the skirmish was happening, Vincent "Vinton" Tonga and Syldan Liadon arrived in Saundersfoot. They used the vault orb to capture Ryo Nexus's Wizard Tower and seal it away. Tibor De'la Thorn'Adan and Sarkova Diconemus evacuated every servant and guest. As they returned to help with the fight, they saw explosions in the room known as the last location of Ryo "Kardun" Nexus.

Outcome

Ascension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess

The ritual of Ascension got moved to the Ruins of Hartlepool instead of the Academy of Thorn'Adan. Ryo "Kardun" Nexus had to acquire a new body via clone. Unfortunately, about 26 Ryo "Kardun" Nexus students perished.

Declension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess

The death of three Grandmaster/Grandmistress Wizard. Along with the death of 78 students studying non-necromancy magic. Ryo Nexus's Wizard Tower was captured.

Aftermath

Ascension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess

Following the events of this skirmish, Ryo "Kardun" Nexus could fully undergo his ascension ritual to become the Lich Kardun. This also leads to him becoming the true leader of the Silver Shadow Clan, even if Felgos thinks they are in charge. As a result, Ryo "Kardun" Nexus was able to sway the outcomes of the Second Great War: War of Shadows to allow him the quickest route to dominion on the western side of the Continent of Renstrom.

Declension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess

The Academy of Thorn'Adan has banned all learning of Necromancy education going forward. This had the spillover effect that the only school teaching slight Necromancy was Malgos University for a few years until they also banned it. Necromancy is now considered a crime in the Kingdom of Malgos. Ryo Nexus's Wizard Tower has been sealed away in The Vault of Thorn'Adan. To this day, the rumor is passed that the nature god Natrine owns the vault orb containing the tower. Grand Master Wizard Council and Academy of Thorn'Adan believe they have prevented Ryo "Kardun" Nexus ascension and have written that in lore they did so.

General Legacy

If the truth ever gets fully published in history tomes. It could be seen that Ryo "Kardun" Nexus was a strong tactician and knew how to quickly end a skirmish against him and keep a level head. It will also be seen that Vincent "Vinton" Tonga would rather get the aid of fortune-telling magic to predict outcomes. The true leader of the Declension of Fhaor Akh TelQuess side would be Sarkova Diconemus as they took the initiative. However, Vincent "Vinton" Tonga was seen as the great leader and Sarkova Diconemus as a murderer. This is due to the number of lives lost, and how could he not find a solution to prevent so many deaths of students? If he had gone with plan A or plan B, some 300-plus people would have been killed. Also, along with the completed destruction of the Academy of Thorn'Adan.
