Old Valderian

The Old Valderian is the oldest variant of the Valderian family of languages. It was spoken by an ancient civilization living in the Valderian region and prior the foundation of the empire of Valderia. It originally used its own writing system, now unreadable for Valderian people, but then it was abandoned after the foundation of the empire of Valderia through language reforms that radically changed the language structure and vocabulary.   Books and other documents written in Old Valderian were still very common during the rule of the empire of Valderia, however it became more and more accessible only by erudites and other cultivated people. The great library of Valderia was the most important location for finding ancient tomes written in Old Valderian and also the favorite for scholars from the whole continent. However, the library was destroyed after the collapse of the Valderian empire and only few books survived.

Writing System

The Old Valderian alphabet has 30 character and there is no distinction between uppercase and lowercase characters. This writing system is for most people unreadable and it appears only in few books that survived from the fall of Valderia.   Letters in Old Valderian are still found carved in ancient ruins, sometimes these engravings were used to create magic seals that protected powerful artifacts from thiefs.

Geographical Distribution

Old Valderian was the common language in the whole region of Valderia that extended from the Valderian mountain chain at the west, to the Foxlands to the east, from the waterfall valley at the nord, to the Luminesian Borders at the south.

Sentence Structure

The Old Valderian's sentence structure follows the SVO (Subject, Object, Verb) pattern. Sometimes the subject can be omitted as the form of the verb can indicate the first, second and third person and the number of the subject. There is no article before nouns
