Get some ink on you, prove your dedication to the movement. There's a Nos that runs a little tattoo parlour in Old Town called the The Painted Lady. She's got this special ink that works on our kind — Gengis
Living an upper class lifestyle is the envy of most, but for Edith Beaubien, this lifestyle felt empty and hollow. Edith was the latest in a line of an upper class family, with roots dating back to the Natives that used to inhabit Chicago. Her family was aristocratic and well to do, which meant that expectations for Edith were very high. This pressure and endless line of suitors her family tried to tie her with, led Edith to rebel.
Edith ended up becoming enamored with the Tattoo scene after seeing a Tattooed woman in a freak show carnival. This led her to absconding and leaving her family with a Chinese tattoo artist named Lau Fu, whom she had fallen in love with. Edith's body became a canvas for art, she reveled in her new artistic expression. Lau Fu even taught Edith how to become a Tattoo artist. Disaster would strike however as the duo were tracked down by the Pinkertons hired by Edith's family. The Pinkertons murdered Lau Fu in front of Edith, leaving her an emotional mess. That was when her sire,
Khalid al-Rashid would come along.
Serving under the
Nosferatu Primogen Edith was transformed. Her once famed beauty paved way for her new gnarled deformed facade. This would normally be enough to drive most mortals mad, but Edith found beauty in her new form. She reveled in her transformation and liked what looked back at her in the mirror.
Khalid left Edith to her devices, largely not using her for his ploys or schemes. Though this wasn't due to Edith's unwillingness to help, she fawned over her sire and obviously held him in high regards. Instead, Khalid pushed Edith to pursue her desires. True freedom for the first time in Edith's existence. She used this time to hone her artistry and become a better Tattoo artist. This path led Edith to San Francisco where Edith learnt more about her craft. The flock of Asian immigrants in San Francisco showed Edith new methods of tattoo artistry that had never been seen before in the United States. The great earthquake of 1907 forced Edith to return to Chicago to reunite with her sire.
She eventually claimed the domain of Old Town where she opened a Tattoo Parlour named the Painted Lady. It was here that Edith began to build an extensive clientele list of people wanting her tattoos and designs. The Painted Lady eventually expanded. Edith had discovered a way to permanently tattoo Kindred - this was perfect for a tattoo addict like Edith and also expanded her already vast clientele list. This was further expanded when Edith introduced the fabled BDSM dungeon beneath the Painted Lady. The reputation of the parlour was of a place for debauchery and somewhere where a Kindred can let their most carnal desires out.
Edith spent most of her time in Chicago outside of politics and the Jyhad. She had declared herself
Camarilla, but it is believed this is mainly due to her sire's position on the Primogen Council. Otherwise, Edith has kept herself mostly neutral. She was forced into action however during the War of Chicago. It was here that many claimed she had met the final death. Edith had been gravely injured by the Lupine attack and vanished afterwards. Khalid had attempted to discover the fate of his wayward progeny, but the Great Chicago Flood hit and Khalid too vanished for a time.
Recently, Edith has returned. Whispers of her return ran rampant, especially within the Nosferatu community. This was eventually confirmed when Edith returned to her domain and Tattoo Parlour. Though since returning, Edith has been acting different. She often will get lost in thought mid sentence or be heard talking in hushed tones about the mother. It is rumoured that she has started up a new blood cult, with many believing that the mother she is referring to is the legendary Lilith. Even more disturbingly, Edith has begun to tattoo herself with more occultish symbols; which of course lends credence to the blood cult theory.
Other than her work in the Painted Lady, Edith interacts little with fellow Kindred. Even her relationship with her sire has seemingly deteriorated, with Edith often seen eyeing Khalid with suspicion when the two are in the same room. It is said that Edith doesn't even feed anymore, which disturbs any Kindred who has been paying attention.
Malkavian Evan Klein has said under his Dirk Mcgruff persona, he saw Edith emerge from Lake Michigan with her Nosferatu bane and tattoos gone. But many have attributed this to the ramblings of a mad Malkavian.
