Session 1
General Summary
The first five of the new pack were taught a brief history of the Umbra, and then shown that they can step sideways into the Umbra. They spent some time chatting in the Penumbra and successfully made an offering of harmony to On-Gop by singing and howling together. Natalie of the Hidden Path struck off to retrieve Sophia, Web Breaker ; she gave the party a Speaking Stone , which allows them to send a three word or less message to person, regardless of location.
At this time, Jacob, the Unyielding and the newly changed Jake were attacked, mortally wounding Jacob with a poisoned silver arrow. Jake was able to help Jacob back to the sept and mostly-stabilized. [Mort and Jake were able to examine the poison bolt and narrow it down to smells associated with Old Town, and the vampires that live there. The poison itself reeks of that area, but it is not the same wicked stench of the vampires. They got the rest of the pack together and were sent off to find a sample of the poison (or the antidote, if possible!) in Theodore's truck.
Arriving in town around 1am on a Thursday night, the five humans a wolf walking all over around Old Town, searching for the strongest source of the scent, they drew the attention of Qin, Demon Speaker who tried to follow them, jumping from rooftop to rooftop. The Young Wolf and Clay, Clay, had the feeling they were being watched and looked up, taking Qin by surprise. The two of them darted into the nearest alley, transformed into Crinos and bounded the 40 feet upward in a few seconds, catching up to Qin.
Clay asked why he was spying on them, Qin truthfully admitted he was curious to see so many new young pups roaming about and wanted to see them himself. Qin asked him what they were looking for, and Clay told them of the ambush, Jacob's poisoning, and the search for a source of poison.
Qin, alarmed that Jacob was almost slain, suggests they search for a creature named Chǐrǔ , which lives in part of the Old Portland Underground .
Meanwhile, Iris snuck around the other side and almost succeeded in sneaking up on Qin, but when Qin turned, he was tackled by Clay. Unnervingly calm, Qin still remained helpful and truthful, revealing that he is Sophia, Web Breaker 's Uncle, and that he himself is a Black Spiral Dancers , both openly and proudly.
The new pack has some serious choices to make. What do they do with Qin? Can they trust anything he says? How are they going to get to this Chiru, and how will they retrieve a sample of the poison or (hopefully) the cure itself?
