The Cellblock and the Earth Temple Report

General Summary

Fullfalling 27th - Wanesun 14th

2022-04-14

Not happy with traveling around with a naked gnome, the Venatore let Wonillon pick up a sword off the zombie corpses and a few rags to wear as a loincloth. Following the hallway with the cells brought them back to the grand sandstone hallway, but right before the grand hall was a door. Three bugbear jailors rested in that room, and although they hit pretty hard, they fell pretty quickly.   Another door in the western wall brought them to a back corridor of sorts behind the zombie cells. There Elyot, with the help of Nyx, found a secret storage room. Jumping for joy, Wonillon began putting on his clothing and equipment while the companions searched through the other items in the room.   Heading back to the main cell corridor, only one door remained, and that was to the torture chamber. There a man and his bugbear assistant were working over a captive guard, while some orcs watched from a cage in the south. Two merchants, husband and wife, also looked on from an eastern cell. While the torturer had a few tricks up his sleeve, these two temple operatives also didn't last long.   At that point, the Venatore were spent, they had cleared large sections of the dungeon level and needed a rest, along with the fact that they now had prisoners to again return to civilization. They brought everyone up to the outer guard tower, but the orcs soon left, saying again that the orc tribes had no interest in this temple, although individual orcs had joined up. Wonillon also took his leave to return to his village. Although sparse on the details, he called his village Glimhollow and said it was "to the east"

Fullfalling 28 - Wanesun 12th

The Venatore make the almost-full-day trip back to the Moathouse. There they find that time flies and before they even realize, it's been two weeks. During that time, several of the companions requested some item crafting from the gnome Keegen Dugal in Hillsboro, though Keegen was only able to enchant one weapon in the timeframe. On the morning of the 13th of Wanesun, they headed back over Frogger's Moor to return to the outer guard tower, and the temple. On this trip Virion chose to stay back, leaving an opening for Rostam the genie-binder to take his place.

Wanesun 14th

Having rested the night, the Venatore returned to the grand sandstone corridor. The processional led them directly to the actual earth temple. As they took in the sight of the temple, four elementals rose from the earthen floor, one in each of the four corners of the room. Unlike other earth elementals, these had shades of red and black. Elyot remembered from Romag's books that they had been fed a diet of blood and rituals of corruption.
The companions focused their efforts on one elemental in turn, taking each down as quickly as possible, but suffering grievous wounds from their stone-like fists. They hit extremely hard.   Once the last elemental fell, the companions, extremely bruised and beaten, first thought of finding a place to hole up in and rest, but Elyot remembered from the junior earth priest's journal, that treasure lay buried at the corners of the ziggurat holding the main altar. Sure enough, at each corner lay a chest six-feet down. It took nearly an hour digging through the soil, but treasures in their hand, the Venatore finally began searching for a place to rest.
