While Crasock searched through the zombie corpses, which had nothing on them, Elyot began searching the torture chamber near the cells. She noticed a slight trail of blood-spatter which led to one of the pillars. Though she was unable to find anything at first, with the help of Adrea, they discovered a secret door in the pillar, and which had iron rungs leading down. Balan would have to take his armor off to fit, but the rest could squeeze in. Adrea's ability to see clearly in the darkness allowed her to note that the shaft descended about 30 feet. Heading down, she found that at the bottom was a small tunnel about three-feet-high, heading south. Deciding to find another way, Adrea began climbing the rungs again, only to be swiped at by a cold, dead claw. Whatever the thing was, it didn't follow her up.   Pushing through a swollen door, the party finds an abandoned storeroom filled with junk. Opening the next door brings them face to face with an ogre. "Lubash smash!" as the ogre swings its huge greatclub. Fortunately, Lubash didn't try to avoid the companions' attacks, and soon it was pleading for its life. But when the party asked it to stand down, it swung again, it's paltry attempt at a ruse fallen apart. It didn't survive the next few moments.   The ogre's den had a mound of bedding and a large chest, Elyot decided to check out the bedding and discovered an intact cloak of elvenkind. Searching the chest was less rewarding, many glass baubles and random junk, lots of copper and some silver pieces.   There was a door on the southern wall of the ogre's den, barred from the outside. Opening that door, they found several dead bodies, along with three captives. A miner named Cuthred, a merchant named Osgar, and a gnome named Cyrr. Of the three, the gnome seemed the most capable, providing details from even when he was blindfolded, such as number of steps take, staircases he encountered, directions a best he could estimate. All in all, not something expected in a normal captive.   Knowing that the dungeon didn't end here, the companions decided to double down on a search, The found a secret door leading to a 10-foot-square room. More searching found a secret door to a stairway up, which led to a an iron rung ladder heading up. Reaching the top of the ladder, they found a secret doorway and a peephole into the safe room the bandits were holed up in. Not as safe as they thought.   Knowing they were missing something, Elyot, with Adrea's help took a second look at that secret room, and then they discovered a second secret door leading east. Descending the stairway opposite the secret door, the companions found themselves in a long, jagged hallway. When the passage split east or south, they traveled south. Entering a large, irregular chamber with three doors on the opposite wall, Adrea spied a few hyena-men, or gnolls to the west.   Engaging the gnolls, the party soon realized that there were more of them that Adrea first saw, and that they were fighting with sound tactics. While Adrea and Balan blocked off the western passage, the gnolls in the back pulled out longbows and used ranged attacks to aid their front line. A few gnolls stood ready to reinforce that front line if their warriors fell.   It was a bloody battle, but eventually the gnolls were defeated. Dragging the gnolls out of sight, they companions retreated up the secret stairwell into the bandit's safe room, surprising the freed captives.
