Fiery Introductions Report

Waking in the Air Temple rooms, the party made their way back to the southern areas. Passing by area where the ironfeather owlbear was chained, they went through the troll rooms to avoid the chained hydra. The passage went east before turning northward. Rudy was scouting ahead when he spied bugbears dressed in crimson tabards.
Before the bugbears knew what hit them Rudy crept up while Crasokk took aim. Rudy's dagger of venom severely injured the first bugbear, and Crasokk finished him off with an almost perfect shot. Adrea summoned a spiritual pick, while Balan moved into position and breathed lightning on them. Then Elyot summoned an elemental spirit and gave it the form of a water elemental. Between Rostam's eldritch blast, Elyot's mind slivers and water elemental, and the full force of the Venatore, the bugbears soon fell.
Preparing for combat, the companions opened the next door, revealing a fire priest with a glowing gem in his chest. Seeing the water elemental, the priest yelled, "The Water Temple's attacking!" Elyot smiled. Unfortunately, he wasn't prepared for the multiple attacks directed at him. He never stood a chance.
Quickly opening the door south of him revealed a fire mage of some type, who tried to cast a fireball, which Elyot quickly countered, her smile spreading into a grin. Rudy, injured from the fighting, landed a hand crossbow bolt to the chest. The mage soon fell. But not until another door in the room had opened, and from this secluded room a fireball engulfed the Venatore, burning most of the party. Rudy was inches from death.
Seeing the figure in the side room, Adrea Tolled the Dead on him as Rudy fired with his crossbow and Rostam Eldritch blasted. The figure was wounded, but backed out of sight from the doorway and disappeared.
Carefully searching the area, the companions were surprised and scorched when another fireball detonated from the northern corridor they had just vacated. Rudy was unable to dodge the blast and lay dying, while Elyot's owl familiar Paisley winked out of existence in the fireball. Crasokk and Rostam quickly noted the same fire priest, likely the leader of the fire temple, had moved in behind the group. Crasokk's bow and Rostam's Eldritch Blasts made short work of the Fire Priest with Elyot's elemental.

After some major healing, the Venatore searched. Rudy noted that beyond the southern hallway, he heard several voices, bugbear and one human. Readying themselves they opened the door and attacked. Two bugbears were obviously in the charge of a human. The bugbears were well trained and struck multiple times, while the human made some vicious attacks with his scimitar, but against the full might of the Venatore, the bugbears quickly fell. As the human tried to run, Elyot shut his mind down with a psychic lance while her water elemental blocked his escape. The rest of the companions made short work of him.
The human and bugbear were found in an opulent audience chamber for the fire temple, and Balan's eye quickly settled on a guan dao engraved with fiery motifs hung on the wall in a place of prominence. However, the companions were bruised, bloodied and burnt from their encounter. Only a few hours had passed since they awoke. They decided that the first step would be to search the area, carefully.
