Esurite

Esurite is an umbrella term for a collection of species that share a common origin point outside of this dimension. They come in all different shapes and sizes, from as tall as a skyscraper, to as small as a mouse. Many different species of Esurite will often travel in large groups known as Storms. The original species of parasites that Esurites originate from had the ability to assimilate the DNA of whatever species that consume. They passed on these traits over the generations, leading modern Esurites to contain many traits found in native flora and fauna. However, Esurites have lost the ability to assimilate DNA.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

All Esurites are capable of reproducing asexually in isolation. However, these offspring will be genetically clones of their parent. Esurites are also capable of reproducing with other Esurites. They are also capable of storing the DNA of their partners for later use. Meaning that an Esurite can have 1 parent or 100 depending on the circumstances.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Many larger species of Esurites will produce a special fog that contains certain chemicals that make Esurites more active and intelligent. Without exposure to this fog, Esurites will become lethargic and unintelligent. They will eventually not even be active enough to hunt. Smaller species can survive longer without the fog, but they eventually must return to a larger Esurite eventually or starve to death. Many times, multiple species of Esurite will travel in large Storms to survive.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

All Esurites share a subtle telepathic field enabling all Esurites to have a greater deal of empathy for one another than other species. This inherent empathy can extend to non-Esurites as well if they do not feel threatened. On the other hand, if an Esurite is hurt or killed, other nearby Esurites will likely become enraged.
