The Pentavian Order
Pentavian disciples can be found around the world, practicing wherever freedom of religion may exist. Free of belonging primarily to any one race, country, or people, Pentavians are of the belief that change is the only permanent fixture of the universe. They do not believe in ends or beginnings, only that situations are in constant flux. As such, they are optimists almost always, even in the face of something like the Calamity, believing with confidence that something better will come along soon.
History
The Pentavians believe that the universe always was and always will be, lacking an end or a beginning, simply shifting between different eras. The story of their gods states that Chaos had ruled the universe for as long as time could remember. A mosaic of constantly writhing colors swirling endlessly into the void, flesh tearing and blood spilling as dark magics collided into galaxy spanning eruptions. And it seemed all would be so, for en eternity or more. But into the Chaos were born 5 eggs. Nestled and warmed by the Chaotic magics, they bore 5 gods whose shapes were unchanging and whose forms were unwavering. The Chaos assessed them as threats, and rightly so, for shortly after their births, the new gods began their taming. They had little difficulty fighting the forces of Chaos, rending them into shapes and forms as they desired. Corpses, still full of magical energy, became the stars. Bones were splintered and smoothed into planets, moons, and comets. Before long the cosmos was quiet. However, the gods had not finished their plans. The largest and most powerful god, Albatross, positioned one planet at the precise distance from a particularly powerful sun that its rays would warm and nourish the planet. The goddess Kestrel introduced the water and elements, shaping the face of the planet. Her brother Hawk provided the sky for protection. Thrush, the smallest and quietest of the five, provided life. From Kestrel's clay, Albatross's earth, and Hawk's air, she created the beautiful forms of the creatures that would go on to populate the planet. Every bug, plant, human, dragon, elf, dwarf, and the countless other species brought into existence were carefully handcrafted by Thrush, and before long, life covered the face of the planet. The fifth god, Phoenix, had fallen in love with Thrush. So he brought death into the world. Every creature blessed with life had Thrush present within. Partly from jealousy, partly from love, Phoenix slowly drained the life from each one, keeping all of Thrush's gifts safe and nurtured under his watch. The gods then sat back and allowed the planet to flourish on its own. The Pentavians believe that the gods were killed during the events of the Calamity, but have found new resolve in believing that new gods will be born, signaling the next great phase of the universe.
