Physical quirks
When she was growing her hair out, one of the Berners affectionately said she looked like a little hedgehog. She liked it, so she decided to make that her name.

Usually carries a bow and arrows. Usually has a book on her. Typically dresses in light-colored clothes and her clothes are usually mismatched since the Berners rarely have enough money to get a matching outfit.

Personal history
Hedgehog was born in the cult and both her mother and father live in the camp. However, the cult believes that claiming individual blood relationship over a child is restricting their freedom and claiming “ownership” of them, so, while she knows who her biological parents are, she feels the same connection to them as she feels to all the members of the cult.
She looks up to Dr. Chaos, but thinks she can be a bit too reckless sometimes. She often acts as the voice of reason to counter Dr. Chaos’…well…chaotic nature. She feels very protective of Birb, as all of the kids do, but is more suspicious of outsiders generally. She has noticed how the outside world treats her big family and resents it.
At one point, Dr. Chaos suggested that Poison Vortex had a crush on her but...that can't be right. Poison is way too cool for her.

Mental Trauma
Once, when she was about 6 years old, her family was traveling through a mid-sized city and looking for a place to stay ahead of an approaching storm. They went from place to place, asking to stay in barns or warehouses since they couldn't afford any actual rooms. The people they encountered refused again and again, but what really stuck in Hedgehog's young mind was the looks of contempt and disgust they gave her and her family. They eventually found a place to stay just before the storm hit, but from then on, Hedgehog was far more aware of how the world treats the people she cares about most for no other reason than a lack of gold.

Hedgehog is the most likely of any of the free range children to think before she acts. She likes to analyze situations and come up with a plan before rushing into anything.
