Mr Arutha Sly
Many would describe Arutha as a charming and cunning man, with a heart of gold but the story of an inevitable tragedy, fuelled by hopeless self-indulgence, an addiction for self-destruction and an often misplaced sense of heroism.
Arutha is the hero of this tale, or at least the closest thing to that concept. If you informed him that he were the protagonist of a novel and asked him to describe himself otherwise, he'd probably just say "an authentic voice, and reliable eyes".
We find Arutha in the prime of his youth, though he already feels like he's lived a lifetime. His experience in the 'rainy shithole' he once fondly called home, London, shaped him and the adventures that will indulge him... later, perhaps.
For now, The Everyman's Tavern in Avignon is his home. He has been in France for four years, ever since London's crisis in 1324. He spends each night drinking, musing, flirting, eavesdropping and challenging, waiting to find someone who can distract him long enough for his life to finally start.
Physical Description
Body Features
He doesn't have a warrior's body, that has been masterfully crafted for a life of war and endurance. Though he does have the gift of genetics, that by default present him with a notably tall and strong, six'feet'one body with naturally broad shoulders and capable back. His toned chest is lightly haired, once again adding to a sense of physical masculinity.
Facial Features
Warm features and an almost prettiness to him support a lovely balance to the strong, rugged jaw and serious eyes that give Arutha an otherwise very masculine look. He sports a full but tidily kept stubble.

Most known for: His manner of speaking and his presence in the room. He is often seen with a companion raven, Whisper, perched upon his shoulder.

Smirks when intrigued, playful. or competitive Could be thought to stare silently a lot. Clicks his tongue when wrestling impatience.
Apparel & Accessories
When looking for Arutha you will always look for his favourite coat, a massive navy-blue one. Beneath, he'd often wear fine black or maroon apparel. He is also a fan of capes.

Personal history
Arutha was born twenty-five years ago, in the dark, moody and now much evacuated realm of England.
Though having a grounded, masculine and unkempt aura to him, Arutha would prefer to associate with the noble class. Though he had a modest upbringing growing up alone on a small farm with his father, his deceased mother did belong to a minor noble class of England. His father's side of the family also enjoys the prestige of representing Catholicism in the Knights Templar, through his grandfather and uncle.
At the age of 21, he emigrated from England to the kingdom of France, during the chaos of 1324 where the population of the former was severely decimated by monster attacks. He and his father were offered accommodation in the Pope's city of Avingnon due to their relatives' contributions and sacrifices to the Church. He spent these years idly as a freelance private investigator, though it seems to only occasionally bring him contentment.
He is well known in the tavern 'The Everyman's Tavern', a social hub known for it's variety of guests and the boundlessness offered by an apathetic barkeep. Arutha has an unofficial arrangement with the keeper, Marco Coelho, to keep relative peace in the place in return for considerable active moderation.
Intellectual Characteristics
Arutha is witty, charismatic, confident and very observant. He has the ability to appear familiar to anyone who he engages with, as well as understanding their thoughts and feelings.
Despite his states of self-indulgent alcoholism, his mind appears always as engaged, critical and reflective.

Arutha is bored with his life, and feels void of any energy after all the burdens he's had to experience from a young age. The most active part of him is his imaginative and romantic mind, who lusts for conversation that reminds him that he is alive.

Despite confidently demonstrating class and nobility in the manner he dresses, thinks of himself and speaks, he seems to have a distaste for the noble class. Especially those who appear superficial, materialistic, self-absorbed and arrogant because of their status.
