Synopsis of the Tales of Terror from across the land

The Estmarien people use tales of goblins to keep their children in line. Goblins have been a problem for Estmerian people for centuries. They have had a unique ability to thrive off of corruption and filth that naturally forms in the shadows of empires. Often seen as too weak to bother the military with, but too rooted in for city or town guards to be able to deal with, they are usually able to exist in the shadows.   Goblins are well known to steal away young children from families, either to raise them as their own servants or agents in the world of man, or to kill and eat them. In wealthier towns children's rooms will have bars over the windows and ornate complicated locks upon the inner doors near the top of the door, well out of the reach of goblins.   The Seaxe people have stories of merfolk and their various devious intentions. Usually obsessed with drowning people for sport, or perhaps food, they enjoy tangling fishermen's nets and pulling unsuspecting fishermen overboard. On rare occasion they will aid ship crews by knocking on the hull of their ships just before they sink, warning the people within that they are about to go down.   The Wilscan people have a much more complicated set of stories they tell their children. Focused on the importance of recognizing the nature of the land they are in. Instead the fear aspect of the Wilscan stories is what happens when the land is out of balance, the strange creatures that will roam in the shadows and feast upon unsuspecting travelers.   There is a separate older set of myths, telling of the tombs of the great ones, scattered across the lands buried deep beneath the surface and protected by all that is good in hopes that it will never be opened.
