Association of Broom Makers
Honestly, they're such a secretive bunch. Most questions are simply answered with a shrug, or some fantastical tale that just has to made up, considering they each tell a different story.
Structure
The association is quite small in number, with no more than twenty members at any one time. There are only two ranks within the the organisation: Master and Apprentice. Each Master will take on an Apprentice, and when they retire or die the Apprentice becomes the new Master, and in turn takes on an Apprentice of their own.
In the event that a Master should be unable to carry out their duties, before their Apprentice is of a sufficient level to take on their mantle as Master, then the longest serving Apprentice within the Association shall assume both the title of Master, and responsibility for the Apprentice.

Culture
The members of the Association are very tight lipped about the processes involved in making the Brooms; they have spun a web of myth and legend around the the whole affair. They are however, quite open about the ways in which they grow and harvest the floating heather, and are especially vocal in the importance of sustainable cultivation.
You can't just go around stripping everything bare, or you'll soon find yourself without anything at all. You gotta know what to harvest, how to manage and when to just leave well enough alone.
An espousing Broom Maker
History
The Assosciation was formed four hundred and fifty two years ago, though the Gnomes had been making Brooms before that. It was not long after the beginning of the Moorland Gnomes accord with the Witch's of Rannoc Valley, that the Broom makers came together and codified their practice. The six Gnomes who practiced Broom making at the time, sat down one winter's evening with a cask of Winter Berry Liquer and came up with the Associations core tenets. They have changed little in the intervening years, merely adding addendums for previously unforseen circumstances.
