Stae'kies'je Atries'ti

Effect

A immediate reduction or increase of temperature within the desired area. While normally used for mundane tasks, as the ingredients for its catalyst are rather convenient to come by, there has been historical precedent for wide-spread, combative use, like withering an enemies' farms, or overheating delicate electronics.

Side/Secondary Effects

If incorrectly applied, can lead to abnormal weather phenomena, hypothermia/burns in the user, or just fail entirely, but give the user a mild fever. Even when used correctly, the temperature change can be hard to control, generally being more extreme in a smaller area. Also, the heat doesn't just disappear/spontaneously come into existence, and while the poultice provides a good deal of that energy, some will need to come from an outside source. Either the user needs to supply/take in the excess energy on their own (the), or it will affect the area immediately outside the radius of the spell. The latter case makes the effects less pronounced, and the possible severity of the first means that this spell is rather unwieldy for large-scale application.

Manifestation

Upon changing the temperature of the poultice, both the amount applied to the user and the intended target will dissipate into a puff of hot or cold water vapor, depending on the desired effect.

Source

To use Stae'kies'je Teolit, a magically charged poultice (Klikes'ki'blaskes'je va'atries kerae'tae'kies'je) must be applied to both the user, and some object within the desired range of the spell (if the user is in the range already, the second application is unnecessary). No incantation is required to cast it; instead the user must add or take away heat from the poultice on their person, and concentrate on the area they wish to affect. Due to the level of concentration required to accurately map out the spell's effective area, in most cases it's impossible to control the extent of the change in temperature, though there have been instances of particularly skilled canefi'caept'ti'me managing to both finely control the AOE and the variation in temperature.
