Glesseal Empire

Ruins of organized religion

Though the war ended in Imperial victory, and the destruction of that treasonous House, the Empire would pay dearly for that victory for centuries.
— Gavia Nazarius, Imperial Archivist
Before the Trade Union's Revolution, the bloodiest war in the history of the Blue was waged against House Glesseal. The Empire's classrooms will tell the tale of a treason against the Emperor, of a dozen colonies rising up to overthrow their rightful rulers. The Trade Union tells a different story to its students, one of an attempt to eradicate the religion that House Glesseal headed, a failed resistance, and a religious genocide. They agree on one thing, however: that House Glesseal was eradicated by the Empire.

State-Sanctioned Religion

Though the Empire has tried its hardest to erase all record, House Glesseal was the head of worship of the Fullblooded. The priesthood of the Temple to Spoer was made up entirely of members of the house, and a few of the families ran the temples on Olympus, Boreana, and Sutnet. Like the later House Noclucor, this family of Nobles was given power to control an aspect of society. In Glesseal's case, this was the religion that Free World historians believe had existed since the dawn of humanity, or at the least the dawn of colonization.

Temple of Spoer

The center of House Glesseal was not, unlike all other Houses, on Ilysium. Instead, they operated mainly out of the temple to the God of Hope, Spoer, on the island now known as Mimsam. The Temple was apparently an incredible grand structure, built from the funds of decades of religious donations. Several of the surviving religious texts mention the wealth on display, the sheer opulence dripping off of every lofty arch of the temple.
The idea that the Archives participates in, or is responsible for, some sort of conspiracy regarding the Glesseal Empire, is an outright lie made by Trade Union propagandists. The Archives are a repository of knowledge, and it does not redact or conceal any information, even if it would paint the Empire in a bad light.

The War

For whatever reason, rebellion or eradication, war broke out between the Empire and House Glesseal. It was a long and bloody war, largely because of the extent of support that House Glesseal had among the common populace. The colonies of Sutnet, Luceria, Scarwe, Isurium, and Stobi were casualties of the war, though that last one is debated. Furthermore, the temples to the various Fullblooded deities were torn down or destroyed, and the temple to Spoer on Mimsam was, according to accounts, broken off from the main island and cast down into the Depths.

The Glesseal Empire was, in many ways, a fabricated warning to the rest of the colonies. Even its name is an Imperial construct. "Church of the Fullblooded" would be more apt. Regardless, the absolute brutality that was doled out on the members of House Glesseal would serve as a warning to any group, Noble or Commoner, that thought of independence for generations.
