Frampianalia

According to Frampian legend, the nation was created when the two stars Framp and Ampi gazed upon each other for the first time. Such was the love of the two stars, that their gazes met, and splintered into a thousand beams, showering the people of Frampia with their light. To celebrate this event, most areas of Frampia celebrate Frampianalia in the last week of autumn each year. At this time of year, both Framp and Ampi are visible on the horizon, staring at each across the night sky. Both are close to the horizon, Framp in the west and Ampi in the east, and for the rest of the year, only one of the two will be visible at a time.
The celebration itself combines with the end of harvest and is often a bountiful celebration of all the year has brought. Among the rich it gives rise to extravagant galas, and is often the time for marriage proposals and engagement announcements. For the more common folk in the countryside, the whole community comes together to share their harvests, often roasting whole animals and sharing both wine and ciders that have waited in the cellars for just this occasion. Even among the poor in the cities, the event can be felt, with many of the richer residents sharing their wealth in the form of donated food and drink. While somewhat less merry than among the more well to do, this is still one of the few times that the poor are not starving.
The Emperor in Wesbury makes a big deal of the celebration, often prioritizing foreign dignitaries over local nobles among his guests. The court is alive with the preparations months in advance, with fashion and attempts to outdo each other in that arena being the source of much agitation. There is also the act of gifting to the divine to take attention. While many nobles merely attempt to display their wealth with the gift, it is not uncommon to seek something special or unique rather than merely expensive. These gifts are all presented on a massive barge and set adrift from the harbor, floating off towards the horizon in the north, supposedly to where Framp and Ampia will one day meet to celebrate their love.
