Dragonstart

While the entire mountain range of Dragon's Meeting is difficult to traverse, the central part, known as Dragonstart, is considered entirely impassable. The peaks here are taller, and whatever passes may exist are covered in heavy snowfall, even during the warmer parts of the year. There are rumors of legendary mountain people who live in the peaks, and who offer to escort others across at a cost, but how exactly to get into contact with these is unclear.
The Dragonstart peaks is one of two eastern landmarks that are used for navigation in Frampia, and are generally visible from very far away. Unlike Dragon's Rest they have no volcanic activity, so whereas Dragon's Rest often causes tremors and occasionally spews out dark clouds, Dragonstart is serene and peaceful. This serenity is mostly an impression from afar. Up close, the mountains are very much buffeted by wind, and the clouds that encircle the peaks provide a nearly constant downpour of snow, leading to blizzard-like conditions higher up.
The people of both Adetownia and Rild have dug mines that extend into Dragonstart, finding many of the richest veins of iron in that part of the mountain chain. While these tunnels go deep, the size of the impassable mountains ensure that they are unlikely to ever provide a tunnel through the mountains themselves. There are rumors though, of tunnels that have been collapsed after encountering something in the mountains that killed the workers, but this could just be superstition linked to general tunnel collapses.
The name of the peaks is related to the myth of Vreathon and Virarion. This was the place where they started their great race for territory. The mountains in this area were created when the dragons started, back to back. The force of their initial burst of speed pushed the earth together even harder than the rest of Dragon's Meeting.
