Powerful, confident, and driven, Aubrey is truly a fascinating creature. For one, she was born among the
Metal Barons, one of the few clans that shuns all contact with humans. They live deep in the wilds and refuse to visit human settlements. I am unsure exactly what transpired during her upbringing but she does not show a strong disdain for humans as one would expect from her upbringing. And unlike most clan-borns, she does not hate domesticates. Actually, she has taken quite a liking to
Domesticate life--not including the subservience to a human.
I was unable to discern much of her past, only that she was born the daughter of a clan
Matriarch. Assuming my research into clan life is accurate, her life would have been very different as dragons do not value bloodlines in the same way as humans. However, she takes great pride in being a Matriarch's daughter and being a Matriarch herself. Apparently, she has siblings but their names and whereabouts are unknown.
What is known is that at the age of 30, she set out from her clan to explore the world. It was then she came across her first human, a draconologist by the name of Bran Patel. I never had the pleasure of meeting the man, but he was one of the few who felt the key to learning about dragons was to get to study them in their habitat. He was very fascinated with the history of dragons, specifically the war that took place nearly a thousand years ago that included the genocide of an entire species. It was a mere chance that brought the two of them together when Aubrey raided a human expedition group, looking for food. Bran was fascinated by her intelligence and bombarded her with questions about how she slipped their defenses instead of treating her as an enemy. She was taken by his respect and the two were said to become friends.
When Bran returned to the Human Territories, Aubrey accompanied him. Not long after, she was officially integrated into the family, becoming Aubrey Patel, and named Bran's heir in the event of his passing. As unheard of as it was, there was no law preventing it so she became the first dragon to ever inherit a human legacy and become head of a human house.
She spent the last 80 years as head of the Patel household and continuing the fight for her fellow dragons and their independence.
