Number Rank/Title in When the Curtain has fallen | World Anvil

Number

After surviving their first mission, The Created are given the Number, which indicates their rank and power in the branch they were born. Additionally, the higher the Number, the missions the Created can take are more prestigious and completing them can improve their living conditions. Most of them compete only to show which one of them is the strongest. When the two Created from different branches meet, it can almost always be expected for them to fight to the death to check who is better.   Every branch has different means to reach the higher number:
  • Jupiter - Once per month, there are Olympic Games that evaluate the skills of every Created there.
  • Neptune - Created of the Neptune have a ranking system that is based on points. Points are gained by completing missions, where different types of mercenary work give a various number of points.
  • Pluto - The only way to gain a higher Number is to steal it by killing another Created, who has higher Number. As such, someone with higher Number is often attacked by others. By killing them, they prove they are worthy of it.

Benefits

The higher the Number, the better quarters Created gets. Additionally, they get access to more pleasurable things, such as better food, drugs, decorations, furniture (those things can be revoked if the Created is one of the really aggressive ones).
During missions, the Created with a higher number can count on support, either the continuous supply of ammo, bombardment, covering fire, or permission to use their powers even if normally they would be considered too destructive.

Cultural Significance

All of the Created wear them like badges of honor.
Status
With the Creation Project not existing anymore, the numbers (if there are Created that are still alive) lost any meaning they had.
Creation
Idea and implementation of numbers was created by the ruling commity.
Length of Term
Until someone else takes over their number by being better or killing them, otherwise it lasts lifetime.
