Kerrmieryon

Storm Warriors (Novel) by Brian Craig pg89
White Dwarf #137
Kerrmieryon is an elven term that means the pursuit of perfection in a chosen task or discipline. Most elves are perfectionists.
Kerrmieryon can be considered both a gift and a curse. It encourages elves to seek perfection in everything they do and thus exploits their naturally longer lifespans. However, in some elves and in particular as they become older the pursuit of perfection can become an all concuming obsession that excludes reason or necessity and renders them vulnerable to dark forces such as Slaanesh the God of Pleasure who naturally preys upon obession.
In Storm Warriors by Brain Craig, Thoron of the Uranai explains the meaning of 'Kerrmieryon' to Herla King of the Plennydd as 'the pursuit of perfection in a chosen task or discipline'. We of the Uranai, which you call Sea Elves, are not so fixed in our roles as you humans are, and may follow many kinds of employment in our lifetimes. In all, we are devoted to Kerrmieryon. for we are long-lived beings and do not like to be content with a lack of mastery in anything we do. Kerrmieryon defines and determines our behaviour in much the same way that the Code of Agam Rund defines and determines yours.
In his book 'Blood of Aenarion', William King describes the way Tryrion and Teclis' father Prince Arathion has become obsessed with a project to restore a suit of ancient magical armour believed to have been made for Prince Aenarion in the magical furnaces of Vaul's Anvil. An all consuming task that at times takes precendence over even basic activities such as eating, drinking and sleeping.
