Randolph Köhler is one of the leading historians of "the World that Was".
Not content to be an arm chair academic, Randolph constantly sought to excavate artifacts of the past, motivated by curosity more than anything else. Unfortunately he to kowtow to less savory individuals more interested in power and wealth than knowledge and history in order to fund his excavations. One of these unsavory men was a dwarf named Hetrek who was hoping to reverse engineer some ancient magical technology in order to patent and weaponize it to become rich.
Ultimately, Hetrek tricked Randolph into excavating some Chaos Dwarf relics (Randolph believed they were uncorrupted ancient dwarfs). After unearthing a dormant ancient K'daii destroyer, Hetrek slew Randoplh and most of of the rest of his staff as a blood sacrifice to awaken the ancient technosorcery creation.

Randolph was born to a fairly well to-do family and attended a prestigious university on the east coast where he studied ancient history and became obsessed with unearthing secrets of the past, eventually deciding to head out West to look for them them.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Professor Köhler was able to locate the site of an ancient battlefield between the Dark Elves and High Elves. The relics were sold to New Ulthuan. While Randolph's employer got the lion's share of the money from this endeavor, this event did bring Professor Köhler fame among the archelogical community helping him find more sponors and negotiate more generous terms in the future.

He did lead an archeological expedition into the Southlands which found nothing of value and cost many lives and much money.
