Seguro Harbour

Seguro Harbour is an independent port along the northern edge of the Lost Continent. Protected by a misty reef to the north, and a jagged mountain range to the south, it is fairly isolated. Run by Mayor Sybil Knevitt, it has seen a boom recently as adventurers swarm to explore the newly opened up the Hidden Continent in search of riches.

History

The Lost continant has been known for hundreds of years, but the rocky northern costline has prevented any lasting settlements from being made on the mainland. Any adventurers who have made their way to the island have done so via magic.

Founding of Seguro

50 years ago, a Pirate by the name of Captain Red Claw discovered a safe harbour along the coast; hidden behind a misty reef. It was fairly isolated from the rest of the continent, with only a dangerous path swarming with Monsters leading further inland.

Fall of Red Claw

For 20 years, Captain Red Claw had used it as a base of operations from which he could raid the fishing and merchant ships who got too close. With the wealth he accumulated from his piracy, the port became a bustling home for pirates and smugglers. Red Claw had started to make demands of nations that they needed to pay to keep the seas clear of his pirates.   He finnaly fell to the combined navy of several nations; the Allied Naval Forces ANF), under the command of Admiral Knevitt. Political tension meant that they didn't know what to do with the port after clearing out the pirates. It spent decades as a military base for the ANF while the nations bickered.

Independance

10 years ago, Mayor Sybil Knevitt (grand-daughter of the Admiral) declared independance after years of neglect from the nations that made up the Allies. After a short blockade of the port was ended, they signed a treaty of independance, which says that it's an independent territory and it's soverenty shall be garanteed as long as there was no piracy and the port remained open to all of the nations. Sybil became the Mayor of the settlement and began to expand it into a mini-nation. People were brought in, and an accord was made with a team of adventurers who cleared out the pass. This led to the creation of the Expedition Society.

Recent Events

Treasures found from the Lost Continent have continued to make it an incredibly profitable location. As the pass has been expanded and secured, more and more treasuer has come back through. Adventurers from all over the world have flocked to the location.
