Jimmie Clarkson grew up normal and lead a normal life until he became a pilot in WW2. There he got caught up in the local resistance movement and took the mantle of The Sign of Freedom.
In his post war years he discovered the magical power that inspired his moniker and did some humanitarian. This led him to discover a long dead space organization that utilizes the Sign.
Known to having one of the longer careers, Jimmie aided in releasing hostages and dealing with human rights violations. Notably, he and his wife dealt with the horrors of Soviet Russia.
When he retired his successor took on a more social activist angle.
