We are the Descendants

Humans are no more, and humanoid mutants, called Descendants, have taken their place as the most dominant species on Earth.
They live in community as humans and have the same intelligence as they Ancestors, but have the most heterogeneous aspect and organic structure: there are what would seems humans and animals hybrids, like people with the head of a crow, or people with the skin made with a similar material of bones, but more flexible. The list goes on, since people with different DNA can still reproduce and create more convoluted hybrid.
Their genetic structure is also frail, though. In fact, it is strictly tied to their mental health. The more a Descendant is subject to high levels of stress, the more it can risk to start the process of Override, which gradually transform the victim into a beast, both physically and mentally. While still curable and manageable, if not kept an eye on Overriding process can be unrecoverable.
Many are the victims of this condition that affect the Descendants; those creature live in the wild and, for the most part, are a danger for adventures.
