The Pulmonary Abyss Geographic Location in Wasteland Of Ohm | World Anvil

The Pulmonary Abyss

I've been holding off on this one.

Where Minerva Breaths

This place is not for the faint of heart, and most information about it is vague or doused in rumor, myth, and superstition. What is known is that the creatures that come from this place can't be named as no two are the same.

Geography

Located on the far eastern border between the copper mountains, and the classless badlands rest an opening in the ground. A chasm of teeth and thick, pink flesh, that claws and grasps at the land around the abyss opening. The flesh around the mouth is bright red and regularly bleeds due to punctures of a root system that visibly only belongs to a single silverbark tree. The opening stretches narrow width stretching for fifty feet. The long spikes of teeth sway in the wind, and the smell of rot emanates from the opening. A pulse can be heard from nearly twenty feet away from the chasm, and what sounds like mud being boiled can be heard from within. The area around the opening is said to feel warmer, wind can be felt coming from deeper within.

Fauna & Flora

I can hardly blame people for thinking this place is no good as the reports written by Militia scouts talk about unnameable creatures, always unique in appearance, and biology leave the opening. Exploring the area nearby reveals more examples of this phenomenon. The effects are similar to that of an ontological break similar to the ontological storm that ravaged the copper mountains for a time. The only regular life in the area is the flora surrounding the opening, with Tree-Splitters being the only animals that come near the opening so they can attack and eat things that come out.

History

The place is known to be considered cursed by both the Mountain Strider, and Wild Heart that populate the Classless Badlands. Simply put, no one comes here, so it hasn't played any sort of role in awoken history.

Tourism

Simply put, no one comes here.
