The Iron Citadel
A building used as a symbol.
The Iron Citadel is the main headquarters of We of the Sand. Acting as the home of their leaders, a group calling themselves the Iron Counsel. Only the Council's most trusted are allowed within the walls of the rust plated castle. Orders are moved from the top of the castles high towers, down to its base by couriers and an ancient public announcement system. An entity known to the public as Speaker always delivers these announcements in a voice many awoken consider to un-natural. It gives new announcements daily as a way to let the people know that the Iron Counsel is there, and they are watching them.History
Constructed some time around 50 AE, this structure has multiple meanings to the population of The We. Though history is mostly forgotten, it was constructed as a defensive measure and to rally the people of the United High Desert. However once ontologite was rediscovered the defenses seemed quaint. Plating was placed across the tower from nearby available materials, specifically iron.
As time went on, the Counsel began to see a rise in crime and defection rates. After the disappearance of those that would become the Mountain Strider, they used the hight of the citadel to make, examples, of those who would defy The We. I've heard the path where they executed the perceived traitors is painted red as a reminder.
