Reserve Arsenal Delta

Old tech. New era.

The M.P.G Reserve Arsenal is perhaps one of the most important things to have been discovered by the Awoken. Its contents shaped our founding and forged an alliance with the Guns of the North who would become my ancestors. The contents of which very few except the most highly ranked get to peruse without scrutiny.
I'm an archaeologist and I can't take one look at a document to learn what "M.P.G" means? However, I can look at manifests that say the complex acquired four rail guns at a date that is scribbled out? Obviously high command really cares.

Purpose / Function

The underground complexes' original purpose is not very difficult to figure out as its name says it all. "Reserve Arsenal Delta" is printed blatantly at every entrance, along with signs warning against entry. The underground complex was originally a military storage site. With clear signs of it also being a point for forces to be deployed from, and a command post that had to be rebuilt. The communications equipment had long turned to dust.   Now, the bunker acts as the heart of the Copper Mount Militia. The old production machinery rebuilt and now being used to produce advanced weapons, armor, and equipment that supplies the various units of the Militia.

Entries

The only one worth really mentioning for my purposes is one of the two emergency escape hatches. When the bunker was first discovered all of the five entrances were sealed except a single emergency escape hatch which some idiot from the forgotten era forgot to close. From there history writes itself.

Valuables

All of our understanding of the technology and the science behind it comes from ancient textbooks that were preserved within the bunker. However, the people who inhabited it before us were very utilitarian in the texts they preserved and kept. None of the articles talk about who truly inhabited the bunker and were rather about various subjects pertaining to its operation. Specifically, textbooks on the machinery within, science, mathematics, and military operations like star charts and inventory manifests. The texts are now almost completely inaccessible without permission from our leaders.   What is more accessible is the equipment and artifacts that had been recovered. Body armor, firearms, ammunition, electromagnetic guns, sensor arrays, communication equipment, and more was discovered here. It has been used many times, and study even more. This combined with the texts makes the Copper Mount Militia the most educated of the major factions on Plenumia.

Alterations

It is unknown, at least to me, what changes were made to the structure when it was in use by the M.P.G. However I can speak fairly extensively about what changes have been made since the Copper Mount Militia took control.   The first and largest known changes were the reading, translating, spreading, and sealing of the texts and technologies originally found within the bunker. As of now, very few are allowed into the vault deep within the bunker which contains the original artifacts. Under constant guard, anything taken from the vault is recorded and kept in ledgers with tracking numbers. Copies of the texts or technologies are sometimes shared, especially pertaining to basic education. This also occurs when it pertains to one's work, the prime example of which being the Bio-Processor Pad N15 DCL-1800 I am writing this all into. The collection is always being added to when new artifacts are discovered.
The next, and largest change is the obvious fortification of the area. Guard towers, walls, and living spaces for men and women carved into the mountain above the old bunker. The place is a true fortress where the original inhabitants of Arsenal Basin lived. Now there are many homes outside its protective walls, but this century-old housing serves the base well.

Architecture

The bunker itself is very utilitarian with concrete walls and supports made of a composite metal we have yet to fully understand. There is a strange metallic sheeting found within the walls, but its purpose was never explained to me until I questioned my parents who outrank me. They said that it's a protective layer that prevents the effects of certain ontologites. There are many electrical fittings that had to be replaced and repaired by us over time to restore power to the facility. The original power supply of the facility being solar panels that have since been repaired. Power to the old life support systems is fairly important as it provides additional freshwater, food, and ventilation to the facility. What the food is I don't actually know as no one has eaten it in about 400 years due to it supposedly tasting like total shit.   The town atop the bunker is of early Mountain Strider construction being carved into, and out of the mountain face. With structures often having partial wood facing, to sometimes complete wood construction. The furnishings of said buildings only having improved as time goes on and our fabrication methods get better. Very cozy is the way I'd describe them.

History

Originally built before the awoken era, the bunker complex was used by a mysterious faction called "M.P.G" which through my own sleuthing I've learned is an acronym for the Minerva Provisional Government. They were using the base as a storage site for weapons and other hardware. That's sadly where my understanding of the pre-awoken era history ends. At some point after the forgotten era, but before the awoken era, the vehicles called H.S.Us were taken from the hangers by an unknown assailant. The rest of the assets now sealed in the vault.   The bunker was discovered by the Sand Walker and Guns of the North explorers on 252, and finally entered on 253. The equipment discovered shaped history and made the range far more inhabitable, by giving the fledgling mountain striders a fighting chance against the Tree-Splitters.

Tourism

The outer base is practically its own small town, with traders coming and going and supply trains from the Arsenal Basin providing food to the fighting force that lives within the walls of the complex. Who often take other roles when not actively training or fighting such as craftsmen and women, or other non-labor intense positions. However, entry to the bunker is only allowed to those related to Militia scholarly pursuits or combat roles.
