Ontological Storm

The worst three day week of our lives...

No Copper Mount Militia is not cursed. Many of the forgotten era denizens seem to have a bit of a hobby, that being putting objects into Minerva's orbit. Specifically in this case a massive piece of Green Ontologite which fell from the sky due to orbit decay and landed in the heart of The Copper Mountains around 638 AE causing a Ontological Break on a monstrous scale. This event was called the "Ontological Storm", a natural disaster that ravaged reality itself for a week. At least that's what we thoughts. When scouts finished a preliminary check with Fields Union, they informed us that only three days had passed. Fortunately, no lives were lost but it was one hell of an event. I was about seven at the time.

Manifestation

The start of the week was like any other! However massive green storm clouds rolled overhead and the reality itself broke. I just remember my parents freaking out and telling me to get into the bunker. However, when I asked about this topic recently they explained many of the effects that occurred.
  • Tables were meat, and meat became wood: Not externally, tables were still tables on the outside, and steaks, sausages, and other meat products were still meat. However, the appearance was surface deep. As the title says, tables became meat, and all prepared meat became wood. Guess some people got more fiber in their diets during the storm.
  • Perceiving from another point of view: Some people, primarily those who were intimate with one another remember the events not from their own perspective, but from the point of view of their loved ones. This is what happened to my parents, with my dad having my mom's memories, and my mom having my dad's memories which ruined a gift he was planning to surprise her with. Some however apparently wrote, spoke, and remember the events in third person limited, present tense.
  • There were no matching socks: I don't understand...
  • The world would at night feel as though it was upside down.
  • Tree-Splitters acted friendly: Many Tree-Splitters suddenly started acting like deer, eating grass of all things. Strangely enough other animals were effected as well, but not awoken to the same degree.
  • Crops failed during the event, then doubled in growth rate afterward: What it says on the tin here, however, our food output was doubled the year after the event took place.
  • All canned goods went bad: What it says on the tin here.
  • The passage of time-warped: Everything felt like it only happened over the course of a week, but in actuality, it was three days.
Many more strange effects occurred but it's hard to find information on this event that is not old wives' tales can be difficult as many made-up stories are also in the mix. The chaos the event caused resulted in large amounts of destroyed buildings and equipment which had to be replaced. What makes me see this as a true disaster is that the vault inside Reserve Arsenal Delta was effected. An estimated third of the documents were lost, however records are spotty, and many don't remember if those records existed to begin with.

Localization

Thankfully, this event was local only to The Copper Mountains, as this could have been worse if it effected all of Minerva. Thankfully the storm ended and life generally went back to normal after a few months of recovery time. The event shows the true danger of those who break green ontologite for kicks.
